Tigris Shield Peace Operation Updates & Discussions

The outcome is either they start working in Turkey and stay there, or they return back to work in Iraq all depending on which offers better economic conditions. Knowing Iraq's public sector pays well for little work they would likely return there. The private sector litterally non existant which is sad.
They must not come in Turkey. Its in Turkish interests for them to stay in Iraq. They can both help Iraq with their services and also can help Turkey on some occasions.

Of course that it suits Turkish Interest best if Turkey helps educating as many young Turkmens as possible. It will be win if they settle down in Turkey as more educated and patriotic Turks are needed in the country. It will be a win if they go back to Iraq and be a Turkish fifth column there.

Money and time spent on education pay off sooner or later.

Unfortunately Turkmens in Iraq are forgotten by the Anti-Turks who rule Turkey nowadays. For them a Somali, Palestinian or Rohingya is more important than a Turk.

Educate them and send them back to Iraq. I am saying this because the Turkmens can be very serious tool for the Turkish influence in Iraq. The current political power seems to forget them but one day they will be our biggest and most important ally in Iraq. If you leave them come to Turkey and settle down without any problem then the most of them will follow that trend. At the end the numbers of Turkmens that are in Iraq will be so low that we would not be able to conduct any politics there if needed.

For example if the Turkmen card was used in the right moment in the right way in the past our position in Iraq and the influence of the Turkmen leaders were going to be on very different level. Even if they didn't used them right the Turkmen factor was still feared both by the Kurds and the Central Government. The relations we were creating with the Turkmens during the Mosul, Tal Afar and even Kirkuk offensives were making them cry from anger. They even threatened us with military operation against the Bashiqa base in which we trained hundreds of fighters loyal to us and the ex Mosul governor.

You're mistaken and not aware that Turkmens identify as Iraqis. I can't call myself one given that I do not even speak their language, however the lineage of my maternal side do(from Kirkuk) and from what I see in the region and country they're well integrated and identify as Iraqis, no separatist movement among them. They're not like Kurds or even Assyrians who call for independence.

I am not talking about separatism only. I am talking about their possible role that can help Turkey in future scenarios including clashes between Turkey and Kurdish forces.

AKP chooses economic benefit above that. And that was working with the KRG, though that angered Turkmens and basically anyone else in Iraq but Barzanistani fanboys.

I don't think that's needed for the Kurdish rpoblem given that Turkmen would be a small force against the KRG whilst Baghdad has a large stronger and growing force which can deal with the KRG already militarily. The problem is politically, Iraq is not very hostile to the KRG and Turkey is not either. Iraq cannot go too far as the US would be angered, Taking Arbil for example is something the ISF is capable of, but the US would not remain quiet.

Then the KRG-Syria YPG/SDF corridor was about to be taken by the ISF last year. It didn't happen due to US opposition who still use it to transport arms from Arbil airport to Syria.

No It is good for them to come

Iraqi Turkmen are vulnerable to Arabisation and the more links they have with Turkey the more likelihood that they will retain their Turkish heritage.

You have got to remember that Iraqi Turkmen do not have the freedom to display their Turkishness as someone in Izmir, Konya or Istanbul does. Trust me seeing your people get assimilated by others is worse than seeing them getting killed.

It is known that the Turkmen force is not a big fire power but the Turkmen people can be used for justification for the possible Turkish initiative. When Tal Afar was going to be freed by Hashdi Shaabi if you remember Turkey tried to justify possible Turkish intervention with the Turkmen population in the city. If that population comes to Turkey with what is Turkey going to find a possible justification for such intervention? As we know the Middle East at all is not as stable and static as we want and nobody knows what will happen next in especially Iraq and Syria as the policies of Turkey to those two countries were much connected to the Turkmen population and Turkmen fighters. There was Al Qaeda now its almost gone then it came ISIS and now they are again largely defeated. What comes next? Turkey must be prepared for all the possible scenarios.

If they are being assimilated as you say it is because of the wrong policies of the government to them. When they were asking us for help we did nothing so they didn't have any choice and joined the Iran backed PMU where they saw a big daddy in the face of Iran that Turkey was not. As long as Turkmen flags are being waved in that region I would never give up of them and take them in Turkey. I would take them to give them education. The most talented will stay and the rest will go to make a better future for the lands they are living in. I would not let their hand down no matter their religious believes and that is something that some people didn't do on the time. Those are doors for me to enter the house and when I enter I want to be treated like king. I am praying to God the Almighty to help our brothers in their causes and give them prosperity. I also hope our government will start actively to support them and help them not to forget their heritage, language and culture.

No it's not, we need them in Kirkuk otherwise there will be too many Kurds there. If they leave there will be need for Arabization in Kirkuk to balance it with Kurds. Anyway that all seems settled now since it got returned to ISF control, they're not going to leave now if they didn't leave during Peshmerga rule.

You forget something, do you think that these Turkmen will not be pained to see their cities, especially Kirkuk fall to Kurds just so that they can live in Istanbul? I highly doubt that, and now that it returned them/Baghdad there's no way they would abandone it.
