Tibetans storm into Chinese embassy in New Delhi

About two dozen Tibetan activists living in exile in India broke through the gates of the Chinese embassy on Wednesday and painted "Free Tibet" on the building walls before being arrested by police, witnesses said.

The demonstrators were collared by security guards, dragged and pushed out of the building after the rare entry by Tibetan activists into the Chinese embassy. Usually protesters are stopped by police outside the high security compound.

The protest in New Delhi came a day after China accused Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, of supporting "evil cults" like Falun Gong and Japan's Aum Shinrikyo, in its latest invective against the exiled Nobel Peace prize winner.

Dressed in robes and their faces smeared with colours of the Tibetan flag, slogan-shouting activists painted "Free Tibet" and "Quit China" with red paint on the brass nameplate of the embassy gate and also on its white walls.

One activist strapped himself with an iron chain to the embassy gate while another tied himself to a flag-pole in the building's front yard on which the Chinese flag was hoisted.

"This protest was against the new Chinese law which bars any Buddhist monk living outside China from seeking reincarnation for himself or recognising a 'living Buddha'," said Dhondup Dorjee, vice-president of the Tibetan Youth Congress.

"China is now attacking our religion. The new law also attempts to weaken the authority of legitimate Tibetan religious leaders including the Dalai Lama," he added.

China's State Administration of Religious Affairs framed new regulations in August banning reincarnations of "living Buddhas" that fail to seek government approval, effectively ending a centuries-old Tibetan practice.

Hundreds of Tibetan exiles live in New Delhi with their base in the northern hill district of Dharamsala, home to the Dalai Lama.

The Dalai Lama fled his predominantly Buddhist homeland in 1959 with thousands of others after a failed uprising against Communist rule.

So how only two dozen can enter Chines Ambassy so easily :what:

.
The CCP is a ruthless party. It will not stop until Tibet is completely crushed and every Tibetan is either killed or brainwashed into becoming Chinese.

Because the number of people guarding the Embassy does not equal two Dozen? Thats 24 people. Enough to overpower a couple of guards.

Means it is not the responsibilty of India to priovide Chines Embassy enough secuirty ????
and i wonder its the Embassy not a consulate which can be overlooked in matters of secuirty

i think despite Pak-India hostalities we had never seen only 24 people can enter Indian Embassy in Pakistan .

.
Well for Pakistan, self determination is only applicable in Kashmir. Tibet, Tianmen Sq all are western fantasies.

i am not commenting on the protest of Tibaetian or their stance.

The incident in questuion here is the secuirty of the Chines Embassy in India which as per International norms it is Indian responsibilty to provide so to the Chines Embassy. If only 24 people can break the gate and enter the embassy you can imagine the security situation.

Jana dear, this is a street protest, not a terror attack. Such things are almost impossible to anticipate and prevent.

Embassies don't have more than couple of guards on duty. I'll admit that it was a security lapse if you prove that embassies in Pakistan are guarded by snipers and a platoon at all times!!

Ah Nonsense....making a mountain out of a molehill...protests outside embassies happen all the time!! Its more a case of garden variety vandalism than a security breach!!

Dear Stealing in street protest i had not heard even breaking and entering of protesters into an Embassy of even a small nation, In Pakistan i cant not say anything ABout indid in this regard.

And another point is street protests are always visible and provide much time to the gauards and police to reach the spot, to stop them on the way before they can enter an important place or building.

On other hand you never know about any terror attack hence you dont need to deploy a platoon for that in advance.

i do agree that Embassies dont have platoons deployed but it is also a fact that no country can let enter only 24 protesters that too into the embassay of one of the super powers that too in capital of the country.

In my country indeed we dont deploy platoons but here we know how to gaurd and we do gaurd all the roads leading to embassies of important countries.

Ah the peaceful Tibetans....who would have thought they'll paint "Free Tibet" on the walls of the consulate!!

Well we also guard the roads, but we don't stop the protesters!!

We have different rules here dear. We allow them to come as close to embassies as they want to. Its a free country!!
