Caste of scribes, they were scribes under Muslim rules too. They were historically at par with Brahmins or even above though in some regions like Bengal they're given Shudra status.

This is obviously the fault of Muslims, dalits and tribals themselves. They get preferential jobs, quota allocation for education and are loved by all political parties in India because of their vote block. There is no possible reason that they remain disenfranchised so they must be doing it to themselves, or possibly each other. They all are as self-flagellating as each other and will remain as such despite the best efforts of upper caste Hindus to beat them all straight. I feel so sorry for the upper castes who are the real victims here.

As I said, if land becomes a commons which is owned by all citizens and managed by a people's committee responsible for land, the disputes will not be so huge in number, whether between citizens or whether between the land committee and citizens. Example : land needed for road construction that currently sites five Vertical Farms. Even here, the Vertical Farms can be privately built but transferred to the system for the system to assign them to a farmers collective who will operate the farms but who ultimately, through an agriculture committee, operate the farms on behalf of the citizens. So, lot lesser chance of legal dispute.

Maratha are fighting to get included in the other backward classes.
