Three soldiers gunned down in Peshawar attack

administration duties.

There are vans(suzuki bolan/suzuki carry) in administration sections of different HQ's, messes and other departments in the Pakistan Army.
Still they need to give bit better well protected vehicles don't you think? we all know about the quality of this paper car we shouldn't forget that we're still at war with terrorists.

I have pointed out in the other thread (17 indians killed) also that security measures should be in place and the commander is responsible for the security and well being of the troops under his command.

In this case:

1. The militants attacked the most easiest target available to them. Messes have security at its gates and perimeters but not a security convoy for mess vehicle going out of mess to maybe, but grocery, chicken, meat etc.

2. Army vehicles have number plate with BROAD ARROW with year of registration or induction next to it.

ARROW -94-2824.

The administrative vehicles may or may not have such number plate for security reasons. Interestingly the 2nd vehicle in this photo is showing just 3 digits., rest is painted to camouflage.

I think this white Suzuki Bolan shows an islamabad number plate with civil number.

3. My guess is that these 3 personnel could be: a driver, a second seater (maybe with gun) and the 3rd could be mess administration staff.

4. Its a targeted attack. The militants have watched the routine of this vehicle going out at a certain time to a certain place every day or every week and had planned accordingly.

5. 90% of Pakistan army vehicles (staff cars/military pick ups/military trucks/administration vehicles etc) are not bullet proof. Only high ranking officers transports, probably their escorts also and wheeled MRAPS are safe.

6. An additional security vehicle in white colour with civilian number plate and 4 personnel with guns could maybe have thwarted an attempt of attack.

7. The commander of this outfit or mess OC should have been clever enough to take different measures to ensure safety of his troops.

However, it can also be that these 3 personnel were maybe travelling in their own private vehicle. Just thinking of all possible options. Another possible option could be that these are ISI/Intelligence agency personnel but media is being told that they are Mess staff.

ISI uses civilian vehicles like land cruiser, hilux, corolla, suzuki carry etc with civilian number plates. The number plates and colour of vehicles can change everyday. Re-painting and spraying is an ordinary task, everyday or every week..

According to our optimistic ones the situation has "improved"... I don't think so though.

There is a lot to be done to win the war on terror. Proper intelligence is needed and we need to be pro-active, act before the terrorists can

They need to start travelling in cars with better protection. 9mm and 30 bore shots could be stopped by many light armoured vehicles.
RIP to the brave soldiers. But how many more have to die in these sneaky attacks?

Gunmen kill 3 army soldiers in northwestern Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Two gunmen on a motorcycle killed three soldiers Sunday near the northwestern city of Peshawar, police said.
The gunmen struck in Garhi Sohbat Khan on the outskirts of Peshawar, the capital of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, attacking a private vehicle carrying the three soldiers, said Shaukat Khan, a senior police officer.
The attackers used handguns to target the soldiers, Khan said.
Jamaatul Ahrar, a breakaway faction of the Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack. Ahsanullah Ahsan, spokesman for the group, said in a statement that the three soldiers were targeted by the group to avenge the "military's animosity with mosques."
Islamic militants have been involved in multiple such attacks in and around the provincial capital surrounded by lawless tribal regions.
Dad Mohammad, another area police officer, said the incident was second such attack in this area — which is close to Mohmand tribal region. Last week gunmen shot and killed a prominent physician who was instrumental in anti-polio campaigns, he said.
The Mohmand tribal region had been a longtime hotbed for Islamic militants and the Pakistani army has carried out several operations to eliminate militant hideouts.
But the militants have repeatedly struck back. Last Friday, a suicide bomber killed 36 worshippers in a mosque during weekly prayers in the Ambar area of Mohmand. Jamaatul Ahrar claimed responsibility for that attack too.

Only if PTI govt takes some time and invests in these things. Right now they are busy in invading Raiwind.
That's one of their major flaws, I've seen PTI as not too keen on anti-terror operations. But I won't blame them, army is already conducting operations however PTI needs to improve security in Peshawar.

Army is doing what it needs to. But PTI also needs to play its role with civilian forces like police and intelligence.

Only 3? Anyway this was just a trailer.

Check this joker please.

Agreed, and PTI can do it, they have tremendous local support, and most people want this to be done.
I don't know what's stopping them.

Situation improved but it may take time to completely get rid of cross border terrorism from Afghanistan.

They are obsessed with Nawaz Sharif. They are not thinking beyond them.
Meh, I don't indulge myself in squabbles between politicians. I just think security infrastructure needs to be improved in Peshawar and Quetta.
I don't favor PTI nor PML-N. I judge a party by what they do, and their achievements. I'm going easy on PTI, because they're relatively newer in the competition. But it gets frustrating to see them not doing the obvious. And that is as I stated earlier: "improvement of security infrastructure".

Looks good on paper. But the objective should be complete cessation of all attacks against Pakistani civilians and soldiers alike.
