Actually, I think only a few states have an ideological majority that is against speaking in Hindi. I'm surprised that you are familiar with Tamil Nadu. That is one state where the is sensitive issue. Infact, I will not be surprised if most of the Indians protesting in this thread are Tamils

English is a neutral language alien to all, while as it's plus its pretty much global lingua franca so learning it is also essential. Hindi on the other hand is native language to some states some imposing it over other states would be detrimental to a Federal Republic like us. You guys would probably know it better why not to do it.

As a north Indian who has lived in Bombay and south Indian cities (Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mangalore and Chennai) over long periods, I can tell you this is an absolute non issue and whenever it becomes on, only a$$holes like this BJP minister make it one.

Many south Indians at least in the urban areas can speak Hindi and have no issues with it. But if you try to impose it it becomes a problem and rightly so. When someone tries to speak your language do you appreciate it or impose dadagiri like "Shabash beta, ab aur Hindi bolo". Cowbelt retarded politicians should be the last people talking about Hindi imposition. UP is considered a hellhole in South India, Maharashtra, Goa etc.

Hindi language is crude, and has unintelligent manner of speech, it conforms to what is apparent from the local culture,where everything about the region is crude,vulgar,insensitive,disrespectful ,dull witted,very inelegant . Indian people will talk and act more civilized if they discarded Hindi languages as whole, IQ will rise by a point .


For comparison take Korean language for example :
Come here is, ili oseyo ,it by includes "please" by default,it shows Korean culture for respect,humility and civil attitude.
Japanese : Koko ni kite kudasai- come hear ( please make this effort).

My folks take a step further,we refrain to even asking people to come here,
we say :Leng bi ja biyu asond-a - please make tilt(instead of come) this side. (Ja is an unique term indicative of "i humbly" , attached behind any noun,verb as a preposition, it can't be explained in any other language.)

All these matters,they determine how society operates and how people view the world.
