What's new

this temple is going to outshine Taj Mahal !

ISKCON is a sub group of Vaishnavas . What they do doesn't influence majority of Vaishanavas .
Hinduism might not gain anything but India is sure to gain from this Architecture .

Your views on this temple to be built by ISKCON .

ISKCON as the name suggests is an International organisation

This design is pretty much a traditional design. So it is just an addition to the thousands of temples.

They say you should keep an open mind but not so open that your brain falls out. Likewise, there is a point where diversity becomes a dogma and demagoguery.
Some aspects will become less dependent on culture. You will see temples shaped like space ships and the like. :D
Like it or not, that is how things will be. :P

Start one more religion if you are seeking diversity.
And further dilute the numbers of Hindus? Nah. :D

.
Nope, you are one of those Hindus who interpret samasara as worth nothing and have adopted Christian values disdaining life on earth. Whereas everything about Hindu architecture screams out beauty and joyous life. Bliss and beauty is at the center of Hindu values. Be it Sat Chit Ananda or Satyam Shivam Sundaram. It is replication of this vision of God which leads to creation of beauty and hence beauty is a focus in all temples and every single ritual of ours.

Let me put it in Context. It might sound Jaded but take the time to think about what I tell you.

Hinduism as a religion appears to focus more on "logic" and facts. Like all things religion too has evolved from a Human Need. When Logic needs to be introduced to Humans via religion it tells us something. It tells us that people who needed that religion were perhaps too emotional about things and not logical enough. When such an logical religion was adapted into the emotional society the society evolved and prospered enough to constitute 25% of all global GDP.

Christianity OTOH appears to focus more on "fear" and "love". Its brings an emotional aspect to a society that perhaps were too Logical. Too Capitalist and greedy and matter of fact. When this emotional religion was introduced into such a society, that society too prospered.

Each religion served a need. Indian needs were best served by an Indian religion that was born from OUR Need.

Keep this context in mind when you read the next part.

Hindu Architecture is based on realised facts, Logical reasoning, and understanding of the Cosmos. The Art used to decorate it comes from the natural joy of the people who builds it. THAT is how Balanced is reached.

If you bring only Art and ignore the Philosophy which is required to bring balance in Indina / Hindu society then you have already subverted the process and the message it brings and sends. Corruption is inevitable.

The Fundamental centre of Hindu values is "Evolution" and not "bliss and beauty". Evolution of self/society/world. The Temple is designed to assist that. To help bring peace and balance and assist Evolution.

Sat Chit Anand means Eternal Consciousness / Awareness from Evolution. Not Happiness through gratification. Art or otherwise.

Please. That is not at all a temple. Why do you want temples designed as space ships? Would you like space ships designed as temples? That is how ridiculous is this suggestion. Everything has its utility and designed shaped by that utility.

Making Hindus look like Rastafarians is not diversity.

Hehe. :D

How would you design temples in space (when we become a space race)?

Vimanas do appear like Temples :D

Depends on the land and the material available. That will lend logic to what is being built. The cosmology remains the same which even science agrees with today. Read up the link I provided of Dr. Kak.

gosh!!!
whoever found the location for this temple.
Aesthetically speaking, it should have been placed in an open area for better visibility.

The space is on the entrance side, check out the pic once again.

Surrounded by buildings.
Check the pic.
The 3D images shown look beautiful because there are no buildings to spoil the temple's view on both sides.

You have it in the reverse. Hinduism was not a religion to being with. It was born of the natural process of curiosity and seeking of a people who were rooted in logic and valued facts. We are sensitive and emotional because we are human and that is a human nature common to all of humanity, not just to Hindus or Christians or whatever.

Christianity was rooted in fear and lack of logic and was imposed on a people by war and invasions everywhere. Those societies which were prosperous before the introduction of Christianity went into dark ages with the coming of Christianity. It was only in the repealing and rejection of Christianity or at least distancing it enough from the secular aspects of life that led to the society gaining back its way to logic and freedom. The rest of their prosperity came via slavery and imperialism.

I never discounted logic and philosophy as the central theme of Hindu temples. You are constructing this strawman. Logic and philosophy were not to be presented in a manner devoid of beauty. No, the fundamental center of Hindu values is not mindless evolution, but bliss and beauty. Evolution happens in the pursuit of these.

Sat Chit Ananda means Existence, Consciousness, and Bliss. At no point of time was seeking happiness a taboo in Indian society. It is illogical to say seeking sorrow is the only aim in life. If people were to think like you art in India would not have developed at all whereas literally all our art is born of our religion.

It will outshine the slums surrounding it, india is 99.9% slums.

what a waste of money.i would rather see this money go to poor and used for welfare of people then to build a show off with zero practical purpose.

My explanation was stripped down for better understanding. No point in trying again.

Logic and Philosophy are two different things. They can be presented without beauty. They can be presented with beauty too ..... neither make any different to the soundness of the Logic or the depth of the Philosophy. Which means Beauty or lack of it is worthless as compared to the substance.

Self invoked Evolution can never be mindless, it is a very purposeful attempt with a specific goal.

Bliss translates to "joy" which is just another side of "unhappiness", when the goal itself is to be free of both how can that be the destination of the journey ? Beauty again is subjective and lies in the Jaundiced eye of the beholder. This again is just the another side to "ugly". One cannot be found without the other. Again the pursuit of which is pointless since it a persuite of base desire.

Sat Chit Anand comes from the name for Vishnu which is Sachidananda i.e. The one who is aware of the true nature of Consciousness. Another name for Vishnu is Achidananda which comes from "A chit Anand" which means Awareness without Consciousness. Both are one and the same yet contradictory at first glance.

The satisfaction that comes from being aware of the Consciousness and being part of that consciousness at the same time. To be with and without Consciousness. There is no "joy and bliss", only awarness.

No one is denied a path of desire. One is free to follow that too. Its a temporary pursuit and also a never ending pursuit. No one is forced to denounce Gratification. Art, Sex, alcohol, drugs, music, dance, painting, sculpture etc. Hindu philosophical influence has been spread to all forms too. But that does not make it Hindu Philosophy. Any more than a christian named Achudanandan becomes a Hindu by the virtue of his name.

lol the cradle of civilizations in South Asia is Pakistan.

I find it particularly laughable how these dumb americans come into our forum where there r threads avaliable already abt south asian history and civilizations claim that our enemies r actually the cradle of civilizations.without even first reading the history itself first.

What a lunatic! @Atanz
there was no Pakistan before 1947 u 3rd world rate. what is Pakistan ? just an artificial state with 2 different type of racial groups.
