INS Karanj, which is third Kalvari-Class Submarine has completed all fabrication work and currently, the submarine is been prepared for launch by end of this year. This was also the first confirmation that third submarine has been named ” Karanj” continuing with the tradition of naming newer submarines on retired submarines. Nath also confirmed that remaining three submarines are being outfitted and delivery of successive boats have been compressed to 9 months and the project is expected to be completed by 2020. ” INS Kursura ” which is a Soviet Foxtrot-class submarine preserved as a museum on Ramakrishna Mission Beach in Visakhapatnam will be the name given to the fourth Kalvari-Class Submarine.
