Well we do have a population of over 1 billion.

We are not doing that well per capita. It's like the Olympics, we do well overall, but not per capita.

For 1 billion people we should have way more patents and Olympic gold medals, just in mathematical terms. We are still a developing country, hence the lower per capita performance.

I am not sure if your statement is true, but even it is, China is making effort to be on the world stage. Besides, people do say "Quantity has a quality all its own". Just consider the numerical advantage that your eastern neighbor is enjoying over you.

That is for sure...And again, Chines university is more focussing on investion and R&D activities. Indian university are not definitely good in R&D in comparison to China, Singapore, Japan and Koran universities.
