This project would transfer the gas resources from ShahDeniz field to Europe, using Georgia, Turkey, Balkan, and Italy. This project is not only important for Azerbaijan and Turkey, but also is important for EU and USA, since it would break the gas monopoly of Russia on Europe. Another aspect of this project is transfering Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan gas using this project which would make them to integrate with Azerbaijan and Turkey, which can lead to a strong real Turkic union. I remind you that the coal and steel european community was the basis that initialized forming the European union, and this project can have a similar role and be a backbone for the Turkic union. Also, the income provided by this project would help Central Asian Turkics to get real political independence from Russia, as well. Another important aspect is giving Turkics a political influence on EU, like how Russians have gained political influence using this project in EU.

This project is consisted of four parts. These parts are SCPX, TANAP, Pipeline through Balkan, and TAP. SCPX stands for South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion which already exists between Azerbaijan and Georgia but needs to be expanded, to be able to transfer this huge amount of gas. TANAP is the Trans Anatolian Pipeline which passes through Turkey and conects it to Greece. The third part would be s short path connecting greece to Albania, and the fourth part is the TAP pipline which means Trans Adriatic Pipeline which conencts Albania to Italy.

This important project is targeted to be finished in the late 2018.
Technical details:
Shah Deniz Stage 2, or Full Field Development (FFD) is a giant project that will add a further 16 billion cubic meters per year (bcma) of gas production to the approximately 9 bcma produced by Shah Deniz Stage 1. Around $28 billion in capital investment will be required to produce the gas and transport it to the Georgia-Turkey border. From there, additional pipeline systems will deliver 6 bcma of gas to Turkey and a further 10 bcma of gas to markets in Europe, in a route known as the Southern Gas Corridor. Shah Deniz gas will travel 3,500 kilometres, to elevations of over 2,500 metres, and over 800 metres below the sea. Shah Deniz Stage 2, one of the largest gas developments in the world, will help increase European energy security by bringing Caspian gas resources to markets in Europe for the very first time. .

The current concept for Shah Deniz Stage 2 includes:

two new bridge-linked offshore platforms.
26 gas production wells which will be drilled with 2 semi-submersible rigs.
500 km of subsea pipelines will link the wells with the onshore terminal.
upgrade of the offshore construction vessels
expansion of the Sangachal terminal to accommodate the new gas processing and compression facilities.
