Not really, he lost hydraulic fluid which resulted in extremely hard maneuverability. It's like your driving on a road and when you get to a sharp turn you realize that you have lost power staring.
Then once he got to the airfield he realized he could not idle his aircraft. It's hard to control.

A genuinely very nice person and hard working professional who got better with time to eventually command a front-line fighter squadron. But the darn aircraft involved in the incident once again was 82602, my gosh when will they finally fix this jet....has a quite a history since the late 1980s...

many reasons.... One of them could be a faulty fuse or a faulty proximity fuse etc

Targeting pod is visible, from the footage (stills), albeit briefly
Shrapnel damage can also be seen
