What's new

The Pink Salts of Pakistan , Billions of dollars loss to Pakistan .

.
Not to forget the Indians have made sure its known as Himalayan Salt that is also found in Indian mountains, so most people associate it with India now.

You cannot sell it as Himalayan salt. Your mines are not in the Himalayas. Ours are.

.
if we get the actual price for it instead of india then what is the issue? The demand for Pakistani salt is going up not down as more people discover it!

this salt does not need refining like other mined salt does. what you have shown in a bottle is just the same stuff crushed into small granules.

I know, i know - thats my point. If you put something into a bottle and sell it as a "health food" you can charge 10 times as much for it. Why aren't our businessmen doing that, instead of sending lorry loads to India?! That is my whole point - we don't add value to our own products and then have all this BS reaction when other people do.

. .
What scam? Indians import it from Pakistan and export to other countries. Exporting salt to India is not scam.

What would class as day light robbery when a Pakistani product is sold to Indians at peanuts and they rebranding it as "Indian product" and selling it at premium prices internationally?

A sitting federal minister has pointed towards this. Where are the names of characters involved in this?

. . .
Because trade with India was not banned and Pakistani people can sell and buy things from Indians.

That is absolute rubbish. The Great and handsome leader of the world categorically stopped ALL trade with India. He relented a bit when Pakistani's started dying due to lack of vital medicines but salt would never be exported to India

Can some expat member please share the actual price of the salt being sold abroad? We can then determine how much India is making and how much we are losing. Shouldn't just make up minds and opinions based on random Twitter/Facebook/Youtube feed/video etc.

I think it has to do with registration of all items from Pakistan! Bureaucracy has made sure this doesn't happen and things like rice are bought from Pakistan and re-sold as indian. Why is that is a question that should lead to public hanging.

hopefully products are registered as Pakistan's own product that has been a huge black hole in Pakistan getting robbed. someone is making money (bureaucracy) by selling it on open market which is picked up cheap rebranded and sold as someone else's product.

Under a local UAE brand as 8 AED.

Check how they cleverly manipulate the origins.

I only get Shan Pink Salt. The government cannot do everything. Pakistan is the 4th largest producer of cotton but our textile exports constitute only a minor percentage of worldwide textile trade. Same is the case with pink salt. It is easy to just mine the salt, load it on trucks and send it next door. Rather than establishing a crushing and bottling plant and market it to the world. Our businessmen are lazy, uneducated and paindu.

The world over governments are not involved in business activity.

Yes it's government's failure to allow it's export to India but it's not like our businessmen were falling over each other to get their hands on this salt to refine it and export it.

Heck it's not even readily available in Pakistan for local consumption.

it has been done by design for the sake of lining their own pockets by a handful of crooks. they have sold Pakistan down the river! just for the sake of a few pennies. That is treachery and nothing less.

.
How the hell is this so cheap?

They are turning mountains into dust for mere pennies.

Some say Jewish traditions of using this salt is driving corrupt businessmen to plunder Pakistan for it.

I say it's just good old routine of loot and plunder Pakistan is made famous for by crooked capitalists employing a handsome face and selling mantra of soft power
