Spl Correspondent
NEW DELHI, Dec 22 – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge-sheet against a former Assam Police constable Mouhibur Islam, in the Court of Special Judicial Magistrate, Bongaigaon u/s 153-A, 182, 211 of IPC and Section 27 of the Arms Act in a case of alleged ethnic violence in BTAD areas.
The CBI had taken up investigation of eight cases including the instant case relating to the incidents of alleged ethnic violence in certain places of Assam, on the request of the Assam Government. These cases were earlier registered by Assam Police.
Investigation has revealed that the former police official accidentally sustained gunshot injury on July 9, 2012. However, by suppressing the true facts, he allegedly got FIR No. 210/12 registered through his brother at Kokrajhar Police Station on July 20, 2012 against a person of a particular community(bodos) alleging that the person had fired at him and injured him, official sources said.
On his alleged directions, a bandh call was given for July 20, 2012 during which four persons of another community(4 bodo youths were killed,,,this was the starting) were apprehended and lynched on his alleged orders. The alleged acts of the former police personnel proved detrimental to public order and peace in the area and resulted in large-scale ethnic violence in Assam between two communities, in which a large number of innocent persons were killed.
