I think that.........having lesser depth, smaller area, makes PAF's operational requirements and tactics similar to israel and sweden. Smaller depth asks for preparing to be over run, as mentioned above. This requires for an ever-ready and proactive airforce. And so there has to be very good air surveillance beyond borders to allow for greater response time. In addition to multi-role aircrafts, PAF's greatest priority would be a very strong surveillance infrastructure. Addition of airborne radars was a very effective step. Further development and modernisation of local defence industry, on the lines of turkish model, would allow for local development of radars: static, mobile, and airborne, and prove to be the most effective factor for a robust air-defence.

But the problem is my friend you ain't Israel or Sweden and your so called enemy is unfortunately not like Egypt, Jordan or Syria. So may be its a good idea to think out of the box and keep focusing on good relations and economy.

That is indeed the first priority bro. But the best policy is to hope for peace, but be prepared for war. Peace doesn't mean letting one's guard down now does it? 8-)

Less to care for is perhaps not as important as much as having little to fall back on.
Sweden planned to be overrun.. but sweden was full of forest cover. All we have is desert.

Actually, there are more to that

Finland is between Sweden and Russia, either the Russian rounding the Baltic sea and attack us from the south, otherwise they will need to go through Finland to attack us. Even so, our border with Finland is the northern mountain. Which would limit the Russian amour movement.

Then our lowland is surrounded by sea, which mean only ship and air access, but to do that, Russia either need to rely on Baltic sea, which have a choke point between Finland and Estonia, both of which EU member, or fly over several EU airspace.

Our defense against Russian is to give up the mid-land and concentrate static defense of the low land and possible guerrilla warfare in the northern mountain, had Russian come at us from both Finnish Border and Baltic sea. Most of our unit and defense line were create with this single purpose, and our unit have adapted into high altitude fighting too.

On the other hand, Pakistan border India, which is it's primary enemy, while the northern side connecting China is a hill area, the strategic depth virtually did not exist on the Pakistani case, because the thinly posted line on the Pakistan Eastern border will not favor the defender one bit, hence the importance of force multiplication.

There are no way Pakistan can take on the onslaught from India one to one, the only solution is to deploy the military in a mobile warfare sort of way, the only way to do so is to rely on speed, use speed alone as a force multiplication factor, where focus on early warning and divert incoming resource to deal with the problem immediately is the key to defend Pakistan. As there are simply too many insertion point for India to launch an invasion, and if Pakistan choose to match all these insertion point, they will be defeat in detail. best that find a weak spot and counter attack, at least you may have a chance.
