The world’s most toxic countries have been revealed by this map — demonstrating the shocking and deadly extent of air pollution.

The results take in 135 countries in the world, with oil-rich countries dominating the top 10.

The UK ranks at 81st for toxicity and has the 37th highest carbon dioxide emissions in the world.

2016 was officially named the hottest year on record and, last summer, a huge crack appeared in the Larsen C ice shelf in Antarctic.

Each country’s performance was ranked on five factors: Energy consumption, per capita; carbon dioxide emissions from fuel combustion, per capita; air pollution; deaths attributable to air pollution, per 100,00 capita; renewable energy production.

The WHO has reported that, in 2012, around 7 million people died as a result of air pollution exposure — that is, one in eight of total global deaths.

Pakistan is doing good for obvious reason we hardly have industries and what we have is injured by Loadshedding.

As a matter of fact the top three most polluted cities of Pakistan are Peshawar, Karachi and Rawalpindi and one main treason amongst others are the non stop usage of generators during loadshedding. With billion tree Tsunami and Green Pakistan Project plus ease in loadshedding with ongoing projects we can see lots of improvement in air pollution. Plus the waste management is the next target for these cities with Peshawar already have taken the lead in this area too.

Well done the UK.

Holy God, look at central Asia. I'm shocked at Canada as well....

I'm not so sure.. How come places like Mongolia, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Australia be more polluted than places like India or Mexico ?? Something is a miss

Please note how the ranking is defined. :D

Oh yeah the perennial per capita argument.. :what:

Not only that, but this list was made by a greenie group and over-weighs fossil fuel production and consumption intentionally to support its agenda, among other things. It is worthless as a scientifically valid exercise.

Agreed it may not be the most accurate , but it definitely makes a point to show who the hypocrites in the Paris agreement are ...
