Drivers put up with 5,000m high passes and extreme weather to deliver basic goods to Afghanistan's isolated northeast.

It good learning documentary who regularly rant about adding this region into Pakistan. After watching documentary , do you think its worth adding in Pakistan. Your take please.

how is this different in terrain to the other parts in northern regions of Pakistan? theirs is in far worse state due to ongoing war. But Pakistan is not going to add it to its territory so why worry.

It should getting direct border with central Asia could do wonders for Pakistan
From generic drugs, food, textile, small machinery, automobile, can be exported to central Asian states
While Pakistan can import cheap and clean electricity, cotton, and other stuff from them

I think we should hold on for a little while longer because the yanks are not going to leave the region peacefully and they will leave destruction behind in the shape of daesh. Its best to go via China for now. The route maybe longer but at least it will safer.

Next time ana or nds does something anti pakistan, lets take wakhan corridor

Some parts of that wakhan can be tunneled beneath it!! Tunnel beneath it :D

Only if we were russia annexing crimea.

Only if we had economic prosperity and visionary & pro active leadership.

I think, May be when ground realities change, the pashtoon areas of Afghanistan might want to become part of pakistan rather than the other way around.

We should have gotten it during USSR war in Afghanistan. The moment they pulled back was the best opportunity.

Now we cant even take an inch. Uncle sam will destroy us with sanctions n we r already economically weak.

If there is an afghan taliban govt in Afghanistan, we might be able to strike a deal for a tunnel or a deal for a 4 way border crossing. Defining a point of border among Pakistan, Afghanistan, china and Tajikistan. Such deal can be done based on equal land given n taken. But this requires an allied govt in Afghanistan.
Hope one day we will achieve this.

Even Nuristan (the erstwhile Kafiristan) was under Chitral rulers before 1900s, Nuristanis (former Kafiristanis) used to pay tribute to the rulers of Chitral. Both Nuristan and particularly Wakhan strip had nothing to do with either Tajiks or Pashtuns. These areas are clearly related to northern Dardic speaking populations of Chitral, Gilgit and Chilas areas in Pakistan.

Wakhan is derived fro. The word wakhi meaning the land of wakhi speakers
Dardic has nothing to do with it

Might? Ask that from the millions of Afghan refugees in Pakistan who refuse to go back.

rather than the other way around.

Lol, really?

Wakhan is derived fro. The word wakhi meaning the land of wakhi speakers

It's the other way around. The Wakhi people and the language derive their name from the region of Wakhan which derives its name from the local name of a major river there.

Dardic has nothing to do with it

True. The Wakhi people and language are both classified as Iranic and not Dardic.

Apart from the fact that the term "Dardic" is archaic, obsolete, grossly inaccurate and was born out of ignorance and lack of any empirical data on the region, its people and their languages.

The wakhan is part of Pakistan and must be annexed asap.

Historically Wakhan corridor was part of Tajikistan till 1893 when Russia and Britain had a deal to give it region to Afghanistan as part of a buffer between the two empires. on saying that ethnically the Wakhi people are the same as the people found in Chitral and Hunza.

Also Nuristani people are the same as the Kalash people. Plus we all know about Pukhtoons, Balochis and Hazaras. So all the lands that hold majority of these ethnicities should also be merged with Pakistan.
