The Bonhomme Richard SEVERE DAMAGE Deals a Blow to the US Designs in the Indo-Pacific

New boat is coming

Just realize, that US only have 1 Production lone building LHD.

So,one at a time.

That's mean Replacement not only Extremely Costly, but also will arrive in..well, for long time being.

Good thing there were no ammunition onboard, and fuel and weapons otherwise the neighbouring 2 ships would probably have been toast.

The most unfortunate thing is..
This ship in the tail end of 2 years Upgrade.

2 years of work worth nothing now

Looks like the structure of the ship really toast up

I am quite certain, she is for the breakers yard now. Bad news for USN, as these things are very expensive and take lot of time to build.

These kind of ships are built to a very high standard so are robust to be able to withstand some fires, but this may have gone on for too long.

Lack of effective fire supression systems on this platform, are rather noteworthy given the time taken to put this fire out.

replacing a LHD will take years and a couple of billion dollars.
How about not replacing it?

Why spend more tax dollars on ‘policing the Pacific’ and continuing this China obsession?

‘America First’ was the slogan - don’t see how spending billions chasing an imaginary dragon threat serves that purpose.

So, what you are saying that a simple one-day repaint won't fix it like what China did with their Type-075 LHD?

Yes, definetly :D
Seeing the scale of Damage, It will take more than a month, to repaint bonhomme richard only

Tell me, If they successfully fix all the electrical system and all parts of the bridge and mast in the next few days

Very unfortunate ... it does indeed appear that the ship will most likely be scrapped at this point. Clearly a huge wake up call for USN surface fleet maintenance ... just like the USS John McCain and USS Fitzgerald disasters in 2017. I am still very surprised how big this fire was ... as compared to the one seen on the 075 LHD a couple months ago.
Conclusion, American naval firefighting sucks, low morale is apparent
