The "Benefits" of British Colonialism

Exactly. Thats why I always say I am Pakistani.

Most Pakistanis despise the British and their culture.

The westernized Pakistanis are so stupid. lol
They have identity crisis man, dont know where they belong.

Partly why nearly 3 million of "us" are here today. And did you bother even reading properly my previous post? Can you place yourself in one of these three regions of Pakistan -

(1) Punjab, most of K-Pk was part of Sikh Empire
(2) Sindh was a independant Emirate ruled by Mirs of Talpur
(3) Balochistan was broken into various Khanates and tribal federations.

And then tell me where you would have been today if British had not arrived in 1840s? You might have been living in independant Sind today, or depending on what trajectory Sikh Empire might have taken living under Sikh rule or if your from Balochistan living in some tribal khanate. You emphatically would not have been living in India - indeed you never would have been made into British India and there would be no Pakistan. Please look at the map above and place yourself in context.

Our family has been in Kashmir for about 400 years. Who knows about before then. We have been farmers for as long as we have been in Kashmir.

Nobody knows what Allah (swt) could have made anyone's alternative course in life. My future is wherever he determines best for me.

We Hindoo, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Christian were all brothers, all shared our wives, fed each other from the same table, made love all the time, the sun was shining, the air was fresh, the cold wind was like a balm, food, meat, choice vegetebales, milk, honey flowed like rivers, we all lived in gold painted palaces, murder was a Western disease, rape was a Western pestilence, greed was a Western curse, nobody died, nobody got sick, we are all united as brothers and lived in one huge heaven that the world called heaven. It was called Mata India.

The the freakin British came and look what they did

Yeh of course !!!
you are one good example of lasting bad effects of british colonialism.
Irrespective of how things were in subcontinent to say british were good says lot about how much they have damaged your thinking capacity. The very reason you are living in their land but not yours speaks volumes about their destruction.

Australians did the same thing to aborginees by taking away their children and destroying them completely. I bet you are one of those psychologically lost generation.

stop praying to lord macaulay disturbed soul.

And India was the country that the British recruited their East India sepoys [Bengal army] who eliminated independant Sindh and conquered the Sikh Empire in 1849 at Battle of Gujrat. So I suppose 1857 was "payback" with interest for 1849.

Maker of Pakistan.

And Canada is a bast*ard child of British. Even have the Queen knocking around even today.

You are arguing with juvenile minded "adults" who live under the protection of the westernised Kafir society that allows them the freedom to sprout the nonsense that they are sprouting. If they truly believed that Western civilization was as bad as they make it out to be in their posts, they would follow their own logical conclusion and move to an "eastern" traditional nation. But eh, what can one do with hypocrites?

Bingo. I have had many discussion with these types who wail on about Western culture, blah, blah. If as you said that they really believed in what they are peddling they would ship out to a more "Eastern culture". But then they make excuses like "I was born here" overlooking that their dad or grandad was born "there" and if he in grip of poverty could pack bags and move "here" to the kuffer West there is no reason they can't also pack bags make a hijrat to the east. Or is there only one way flights that PIA runs?

 Indeed! The best excuse I ever heard was that it was too hard to earn a living in Pakistan. I kid you not, this is from a guy who was ranting on about how materialistic the Western nations are. One wonders what influenced their minds in such a way that they make one assumption but refuse to follow it through to it's logical conclusion.

I visit Pakistan every now then to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

So I visit a Eastern society every now and then.

Pakistan has been know as the country where british recruited armed forces to eliminate freedom fighters of 1857, so no surprises here.

Don't vast majority of subcontinent muslims claim foreign origins and proudly claim serving foreigners for one reason or another, main one being to get rich. First came arabs that left millions of syeds, abbasis, ansaris etc. Then came Turks who recruited millions more from Afghanistan to central India, not to forget Mughals. Why should British recruitment be looked differently?

Killing pro-mughal terrorists in 1857 north central India most have been fun. I'm glad they toke this opportunity.

i am actually not surprised at your post

in 1900s, the indians were calling for freedom movements while the ancestors of pakistanis were calling british empire not to leave, Allama Iqbal made his own party which was very loyal to british empire something which is not tought in our history lessons.

this and the fact tht today seeing how Pakistan is one messed up country i believe that formation of Pakistan was a big mistake, if Pakistan was part of India, it would have fared a lot better than it is today.

Pakistan maybe a british plan to keep people of subcontinent cut each other throats and dont become a big power in the world.

when it comes to mughals or any so called foreign invaders, economically India was a power house until it got colonised by the british, India was an economic super power before looters of brtitish empire came to india

so mughals or not, they didnt loot india while sending all the indian riches to serve United Kingdom and to increase wealth of the queen.

u are welcome to fuk off and never come back.

And here is what coterminous Pakistan looked like in 1843 just before the big bad, rapacious British came barging in. All of -

(1) Punjab, most of K-Pk was part of Sikh Empire
(2) Sindh was a independant Emirate ruled by Mirs of Talpur
(3) Balochistan was broken into various Khanates and tribal federations.

So this "India" people talk about certainly did not exist when British came kocking in coterminous Pakistan. And after defeating the Sikhs, building canal colonies, military structures, railways [albeit for their interests] they left after 98 years in 1947. This is the perspectve Pakistanis should be looking at. Our history with the British colonialism is entirely differant to Banglas and others and we should look at it accordingly.

The size of the Sikh 'empire' in your map is rediculous.

Here is the proper map of Sikh 'kingdom' ;

Thanks. I had used another [Sikh] source that I thought was reliable but alas it must have been "beefed up" to make it look larger. I shall have to prepare another one.

British exploied you but India was still piss poor and remained so after 70 years. Mughals treated locals like slaves and didn't left anything worth while behind compared to British.

British needed raw material for their industries. Mughals on the other hand had no such need in Uzbekistan because they were savages who earned by plundering. And if ancesors of Pakistanis didn't vote for Pakistan then how you ended up in Karachi from UP?
