Qatar Thursday recalled its ambassador to Egypt as a result of a dispute which arose at a meeting of the Arab League on the Egyptian air strikes against positions of the Islamic State Group (EI) in Libya , said the agency QNA official press.
According to an official of Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Doha has decided to recall its ambassador for consultations in Cairo because of a statement by the Egyptian delegate to the Arab League, QNA said.
The Qatari agency did not elaborate on the content of the statement of the Egyptian delegate. But the Qatari television channel Al-Jazeera said the Egyptians had accused Qatar of supporting terrorism.
Egyptian media also reported that the Egyptian delegate to the Arab League, Tariq Adel, accused Qatar of supporting terrorism, because the Qatari delegate had expressed reservations about a clause approving the Egyptian air strikes against terrorists proclaiming Libyan subsidiary of the Islamic State group.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that Qatar had issued as part of the Arab League reservations on approval of the Egyptian raids in Libya, stressing the need for consultations before any unilateral military action against another Member State the pan-Arab organization.
