Rana Mashood removed as Punjab law minister

LAHORE: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday removed Law Minister Rana Mashhood from his office.
Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has been given the additional charge of the law ministry.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif has given additional charge of the home ministry to Environment Protection Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada. A notification read Mujtaba Shuja has been given an additional charge of law minister following removal of Rana Mashhood.
According to the Chief Minister's Secretariat, notifications for new portfolios of the provincial ministers had also been issued in this regard.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) sources said that the Punjab CM was not satisfied with Mashhood's performance, especially in the current political impasse as well as law and order situation.
Sources also said that before the reshuffling, Shahbaz talked to his confidant former law minister Rana Sanaullah and his Assistant Advisor for Public Prosecution Rana Maqbool Ahmad. Rana Mashhood would continue to hold education and sports ministries.
Mujtaba would also continue to hold his previous portfolios of the finance, excise and taxation ministries along with the additional charge of the law and parliamentary affairs ministry.
PML-N sources further said that other changes as well as expansion in the cabinet were also expected in the upcoming days and some of the active members of the provincial assembly, including Zaeem Qadri (spokesman of the Punjab government), Rana Arshad, Mian Taha Jamil, Malik Nawaz, Jamal Leghari and Ayesha Ghose Shah are being considered.
As many as 20 ministers, one adviser and four special assistants to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif are included in the Punjab Cabinet. Special Assistants are included Chaudhry Arshad Jatt, Rai Haider Ali Khan, Rana Maqbool Ahmad and Azamul Haq while Khawaja Salman Rafique is the only advisor to the CM.
In the provincial ministers, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan, Tanveer Aslam Malik, Muhammad Asif Malik, Bilal Yasin, Mian Yawar Zaman, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Shuja Khanzada, Rana Mashhood, Abdul Waheed Chaudhry, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Mian Atta Manika, Farrukh Javed, Asif Saeed Manais, Syed Haroon Ahmed Sultan Bokhari, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, Chaudhry Muhammad Shafique and Khalil Tahir Sindhu are included. While two women, Zakia Shah Nawaz Khan and Hameeda Waheeduddin, are also members of Shahbaz Sharif's cabinet. As many as 38 parliamentary secretaries have also been appointed.
