I'm from Wuhan City, Hubei Province in Central China.
This province is also named "a province of thousands of lakes",
where 3 Gorge Dam and Gezhou Dam are located across the Yangtze River.
My hometown, Wuhan, the provincial capital, is called "a city of hundreds of lakes".
During the 1998 flood, the theme of fighting the flood was "Protect the Great Wuhan".
So, you can imagine what floods mean in people's life here.

I am very touched by our Pakistani brothers' gesture during this year's flood.
It's not the size of 10,000 tons of rice, but what it conveys is priceless!
My Province and I are full of gratitude to our Pakistan iron brothers.

WUHAN TIANHE, China, Aug 23 The first batch of rice donated by Pakistan to flood-stricken areas in central China's Hubei province arrived at Wuhan Tianhe airport on Aug. 22. The Hubei provincial government held a handover ceremony at the airport for the first 22 tons of rice. According to the donation plan, Pakistan will donate a total of 10,000 tons for disaster relief.

At the handover ceremony, Yang Xiaodong, deputy director of the disaster relief division of China's Ministry of Civil Affairs, thanked the Pakistani government for its generous donation and said that the gesture fully reflected the deep friendship between Pakistan and China.

Ali Ahmed Arain, Consul General of the Pakistani consulate in Guangzhou, said at the ceremony that Pakistan has always paid close attention to events happening in China. Since the Chinese people are working hard to reconstruct their homes after the disaster, the Pakistani government decided to offer a helping hand.

The Pakistani government will soon ship the rest of the donation to Wuhan.

Since the start of the rainy season in June, Hubei has experienced six rounds of heavy rainfall. The flooding has caused great damage across the region. From June 18 to July 31, a total of 98 counties and cities have been affected by flooding, with affected persons reaching 17.85 million. A total of 2.18 million hectares of farmland were flooded, 57,300 houses collapsed and 1.55 million people forced to temporarily relocate.

I really feel for these affected people who have gone through hardships during floods because my countrymen also have gone through it and I know what pain it causes....

Thanks 4 tagging me but c'mon...no need to thanks us. I can't stop you from expressing your feelings so I like that u thanked us but there is no need for it.....:-)

I have mixed feelings here. On one hand, I want to spread this thing/incident to everybody so that people realize how Pakistan and China are deeply connected with each other but also on other hand I don't want to spread how we Pakistanis sent rice and helped Chinese people because in our religion, it is considered bad if you do good deeds and propagate/chest thump about it....We are taught that help the needy ones in a way that your left hand remains unknown of what you gave through your right hand....So, u know. We Pakistanis should help secretly so that no body knows but it was the gratitude and humbleness of you that you tell the world that we helped you.....

So, I on behalf of Pakistanis thank u for thanking us.....:p:......

May God help those people in going back to their normal lives peacefully....Stay safe, bro. We all people hope your beautiful province and city recovers soon and become backbone of strong and powerful China...
Peace, love and Respect from Karachi, Pakistan. :pakistan::china:

U r most welcome, bro. We are known for our hospitality, even for our enemies. Just imagine how good people will and should treat Chinese people given our brotherly relations....

I will too visit China in next 2 or 3 years....Will make Chinese friends and share some nice Pakistani food with them....:-)

.
No problem. We are happy to help our brothers and China can always count on Pakistan as Pakistan can always count on China. We will always be there for our brother.
