Thailand leads ASEAN in 5G

See many people does not understand the BRI project. CN is holding too much of USD after so many years exporting to US. Not only they are afraid USD will collapse but others too. That is why they have the BRI project to spend all the USD. That is why the interest is low and some even they do it for free. CN encourage its people to spent their USD. See the number one tourist in the world is from CN. And every time they travel they are buying a lot to finish up the USD. The BRI is also helping them to raise the other country income to that they will progress and have purchasing power. So basically they are in ports, road and transport these is connectivity. So the white is not happy , they don't want CN to help others because they want the world to be in shit state and only they are the master. Those reject the BRI is stupid as CN is not going to be generous forever.

Dont worry VN is Asean now , ASEAN will help VN.
What VN doing is correct

I think most of countries that accept BRI just bcs they r so corrupted and cant borrow money from World Bank, BRI only make their economy collapse faster like Sri lanka that lost the port to CN in 99 years

VN refused BRI, we can borrow money from World bank. If there is a BRI in VN, its mainly for political matter bcs both VN and CN are communist nations

Dont worry VN is Asean now , ASEAN will help VN.
Tks for the hep from ASEAN, I think Russia also keep helping VN in weapon, EU will keep supporting VN with FTA deal....but thats not enough to fight against mighty US. U guys never really fight against long hard war against the most powerful nation on Earth, USA, like VN.

DO u know why US could beat both Nazi and the Jap easily while Nazi and Jap were the second and the third most powerful military on Earth in WW2 ??

The middle income trap is due to our lack of innovation and patent. This 2 aspect are where we lost to Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore. Besides corruption.

US beats Germany due to Russia. Before the war Russia and Nazi had a deal as they are friends. But Russia betrayed Nazi when they were focusing somewhere else , the Russian took eastern Europe that the Nazi defeated, then the Nazi turn around and attack Russia , but they had badly loses due to the weather. If it was not this I don't think US can beat the Nazi. The kill ratio was 10 us killed to 1 Nazi kill. US has more people so eventually they won.

Japan lost because they took too long to attack China. Japan lost many army in China as it is a huge country even though CN at that time is in shit condition. Majority of Jap losses in WW2 is in China. Jap has more aircraft carrier than US in WW2. However their communication code was broken by US. So whatever their next step is already known by US. If not I don't think US can beat Jap in sea battle.

That is why the German told me if they had chosen CN as an allied rather than JP, they should not have lost the war. And the JP told the Nazi you can come and try. The German were sounding Jap to help them to attack Russia at the other end, and they did sent their army however these army perished till today cannot find their corpses as Siberia is too cold.

Russia is lucky to have a super cold weather.

Vietnam, Afghanistan and NK is the 3 countries that the world power cannot win the war in these area.

Soviet could defeat Nazi tks to support from US during the hardest time. If US wanted Soviet collapse in WW2 after she almost lost Moscow, then maybe Soviet would still under Nazi's control till now

----------------------------
Even before the United States entered World War II in December 1941, America sent arms and equipment to the Soviet Union to help it defeat the Nazi invasion. Totaling $11.3 billion, or $180 billion in today’s currency, the Lend-Lease Act of the United States supplied needed goods to the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1945 in support of what Stalin described to Roosevelt as the “enormous and difficult fight against the common enemy — bloodthirsty Hitlerism.”

  • 400,000 jeeps & trucks
  • 14,000 airplanes
  • 8,000 tractors
  • 13,000 tanks
  • 1.5 million blankets
  • 15 million pairs of army boots
  • 107,000 tons of cotton
  • 2.7 million tons of petrol products
  • 4.5 million tons of food

and do u think who can stop US's hegemony now ?? I guess No one (VN just try to survive like during Mongol invasion) at least in the next 100 years.

US won WW2 because of their industrial capacity & huge manpower.
Your question : and do u think who can stop US's hegemony now ?? @Viva_Viet

The one that today have much bigger Industrial Capacity & Manpower than US
The answer is : China

For example : China Automobile Production Capacity in 2020 reach 25 Million, meanwhile US Automobile production capacity in 2020 only 8 Million

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_motor_vehicle_production

Why Automobile Production capacity? Because Automobile Factory is the one that can become rapid coversion to War Production during Wartime

“The most important single task before the nation is the rapid conversion of the automobile industry to war production.”

Huawei doubles down on digital power to boost Thailand’s digital transformation and recovery
PUBLISHED : 2 SEP 2021 AT 18:56

Huawei has geared up its contribution to promote Thailand’s digital transformation and enhance the country’s digital competitiveness and foster economic recovery.

The omnipresence of digital technology and its significant impact on people life and work has been highlighted more than ever, said Abel Deng, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co Ltd.

According to the latest Global Connectivity Index, countries better positioned in their digital transformation process experience less impact from the pandemic and will achieve faster recovery. In Thailand, the strong investment in ICT infrastructure has shown tremendous value during the pandemic, providing resilience, opportunities for growth and offering businesses a strategic advantage.

Due to its strong strategy in investing in digital technologies, Thailand has gradually emerged as the digital hub for Asean from several aspects, including its development of the Digital Economy and Society Development Plan, aiming to drive digital economy growth and achieve the visionary Thailand 4.0, its no.1 ranking among 176 countries in terms of fixed broadband Internet speed, as well as 5G infrastructure forerunner and leader in integrating 5G technology in key industries, he said.

“With open collaboration and innovation, Huawei has been serving Thai customers and carriers as a leading ICT company. While helping our customers succeed, we have contributed to accelerate Thailand’s digital transformation and enhance the country’s digital competitiveness in order to create greater social values,” said Mr Abel.

“This is also the reason why Huawei continues its strong support for promoting Thailand's digital transformation through business expansion with its first Digital Power business in Thailand, continued investment in 5G, cloud and local digital talent development.”

Huawei believes key to Thailand’s digital transformation is the country’s efforts towards carbon neutrality. Huawei’s Digital Power business aims to support Thailand towards becoming Asean’s carbon neutral leader, with leading technology, such as the Smart PV for clean energy generation and global practice to reduce carbon emissions.

Maintaining a strong commitment

“As a key growth market for Huawei in the region, I would like to reiterate Huawei’s support for Thailand, through our long-term mission in social value contributions to Thai people and businesses,” said Mr Abel, adding that the contributions span over three areas, namely, Huawei’s support to fight against Covid-19, digital talents ecosystem cultivation and SMEs and Startups ecosystem support.

Over the past year, the economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is challenging for all fields, with significant impact on individual, industry and national economy across the world. In this fight against pandemic, Huawei has been standing firmly with Thailand and transform the ongoing crisis into new opportunity by applying digital technology including to 5G, Cloud and AI to tackle challenges in the public health and other sectors. Huawei’s support to fight against Covid-19 has been reflected in our numerous collaborations with Thai hospitals and partners, such as Ramathibodi and Siriraj Hospitals, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) or the Digital Council of Thailand (DCT), to elevate the healthcare system and support Thai doctors and nurses to provide safer, quicker and stronger health services.

“We can see a stronger need to invest in digital upskilling and reskilling of the ICT workforce. As the key to driving digital development lies in an upskilled talent foundation, we have been proactively enabling Thailand 4.0 through digital talent cultivation, with approximately 180 million baht invested and 16,500 people trained in Huawei Asean Academy. As the path to a digitalized future never ends, Huawei will continuously work the public and private sector to enable the digital talent ecosystem.”

Furthermore, the company highly appreciate and recognise the key role of SMEs and Startups in a strong economy.

According to the World Bank, SMEs represent about 90% of businesses and more than 50% of employment worldwide. Formal SMEs contribute up to 40% of GDP in emerging economies. An estimated 600 million jobs will be needed by 2030 to absorb the growing digital industries, which makes SME development and a skilled talent foundation a high priority for Thailand.

Therefore, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) have been collaborating with industry key stakeholders, such as the New Economy Academy under the Ministry of Commerce, the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), the National Innovation Agency (NIA), as well as local customers and partners to provide new technology, global knowledge and training programs from Huawei Asean Academy (Thailand).

Digital technology supports Thailand to become Asean’s digital hub and carbon neutrality leader
In order to empower Thailand to become the Asean Digital Hub and achieve the country’s goal of leading Asean in carbon neutrality, Huawei will continuously invest in four domains: 5G, data centre and cloud, digital power, and talent development.

“Looking ahead, we are confident and excited about the future. We believe Thailand can become the Asean digital hub not only with its digital technology implementation but also as a Carbon Neutrality Leader,” said Mr Abel.

Since becoming a separate business unit within Huawei, the Digital Power business has expanded rapidly, and has been utilised in over 170 countries and regions, with industry-leading output and market share. In Prefabricated Modular Data Center, Smart PV and Site Power Facility business, Huawei has gained a leadership position within the sector with the largest global market share. For mPower business, Huawei was the world’s first company to innovate new technology called X-in-1 ePowertrain, to raise the energy efficiency of electric vehicles. Moreover, for Modular Power, Huawei has supplied over 300 million high-efficiency Modular Power units globally. In 2020, Huawei’s sale revenue from the digital power business globally reached $5.5 billion and served one third of the world's population.

This year, Huawei has established its new Digital Power business in Thailand, and the company is now continuously serving more than 50 local partners with services, integration, and solutions, creating over 1,000 local indirect job opportunities. With highly efficient local team and partners, Huawei expects that leading-technology and global practice adoption will be able to support Thailand toward becoming the Asean carbon neutral leader.

Huawei also continues supporting Thailand through ongoing investment in 5G innovation and local ecosystem. While Thailand has had a leading rollout progress compared to other countries in the region, it is important to continue with a fast adoption rate, to remain in the lead and help create new economy value including new job opportunities as well as increase the digital economy’ share of GDP. Huawei Thailand has invested 475 million baht for 5G EIC to help develop and innovate 5G use case for various industries, create new business models, and upskill for startups and SMEs. The company is also working together with partners to arrange the first 5G Summit in Thailand this year to support the 5G industry and ecosystem in the country. With support of DEPA, we will work with ecosystem partners in leading industry sector to initiate 5G alliance to build a healthy 5G industry application & innovation ecosystem in Thailand.

Huawei will continue to boost the ecosystem to build leading 5G City with high standard 5G network infrastructure to strengthen 5G applications and innovation that will bring new business services and value. This will also push Thailand to become an Asean 5G country, also aligning with Thailand’s role as a host for the APEC 2022 Summit, to be held in Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai.

Moreover, our 700 million baht investment for the third local data centre in Thailand makes Huawei Cloud the first and currently the only global cloud service provider with three data centres in Thailand, creating more than 200 direct job opportunities with 200 local partners.

As a proactive digital transformation enabler, Huawei not only brings ICT technologies to Thailand but also continues to invest to help the industries adopt these technologies in their business scenarios.

As a leading ICT partner for digital transformation, as well as continuous social value contributor in Thailand for more than 22 years, we will continuously push forward digital transformation in Thailand, and bring digital technology to every person, home, and organisation for a fully connected, intelligent Thailand so that the country can recover quickly. With the mission of 'Grow in Thailand, Contribute to Thailand’, Huawei will reinforce its commitment to helping the country move toward becoming Asean’s digital hub and a carbon neutral leader.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha greets Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei during a virtual meeting to promote collaboration on the nation’s digital transformation and talent development.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha held a virtual meeting with Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei yesterday to deepen cooperation with the Chinese tech giant and promote the use of 5G plus AI eco-innovation, he said in a Facebook post.

Gen Prayut wrote on his account that he had concluded a video conference with Huawei's top management, including the Chinese billionaire, and he was "very pleased to tell people that the discussion was good and opened opportunities for cooperation in many areas to support the work of the government and the private sector in Thailand".

They touched on a range of topics including the application of digital technology in medicine, education, trade, services, tourism, finance, agriculture and other industries, he said.

Executives from Huawei also joined the virtual meeting. From left: President of Huawei Asia Pacific Jeffery Liu, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Abel Deng and the newly appointed President of Huawei Asia Pacific, Simon Lin.

The development of cloud platforms for all parties to use big data was also on the agenda as a matter that will require long-term and continuous investment, he said.

Gen Prayut stressed the important role that advanced ICT technologies and digital innovation will play in supporting Thailand's economic resilience and sustainability.

"Huawei has provided profound contributions to Thailand's fight against the pandemic and the country's digital transformation. I am deeply impressed by Huawei's history and dedication," Gen Prayut posted.

"Going forward, Thailand is eager to continue working with Huawei in various areas, including the digital economy, 5G smart hospitals, cloud and computing, digital power, smart logistics, and further data centres."

Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said the prime minister had thanked Huawei Technologies for donating face masks and providing technological support to help the government battle Covid-19.

He ordered government agencies to discuss possible cooperation projects with the Chinese tech titan, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Mr Ren expressed his gratitude for the government's trust in Huawei and congratulated Thailand on its successful 5G rollout.

"Huawei and Thailand have been working together to build a strong digital infrastructure foundation for many years," the Huawei boss said.

"We look forward to further accelerating the integration of digital technologies in Thailand's key industries, especially in port and airport capabilities."

He said Huawei had applied 5G technology and AI to develop many industries in China, and that Thursday's discussion would lead to technological solutions that would benefit Thailand.

"We strongly believe in Thailand's successful digital transformation and talent development. Our local team will continue working closely with Thai customers and partners to serve the country's social and economic development with technology solutions," Mr Ren said.

Huawei has set up a Huawei Asean Academy in the Eastern Economic Corridor to upskill workers.

5G, cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) will all be key elements in the infrastructure of the country's digital economy for the betterment of Thai people, the government said on Wednesday.

Wireless communication technologies are already core parts of Thailand’s development, namely social, economic and security development, said Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon.

Gen Prawit was speaking at the opening of Powering Digital Thailand 2022, an event jointly organised by the Bangkok Post, Huawei Technologies Co, and the Asean Foundation in Bangkok.

The forum is being held at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld in Bangkok. It concludes on Friday.

The deputy prime minister said these technologies play an important role in Thailand's development, especially as the country’s economy prepares to bounce back from Covid-19.

"These technologies together are considered a key driving force in the development of Thailand’s digital economy through the further development of innovations and creating jobs," Gen Prawit said.

"Powering Digital Thailand 2022 is a good example of public-private cooperation to push for integrating the use of technologies in the country’s development," he said.

Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES) Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn told the forum that the DES ministry has set a goal of having digital businesses account for 30% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030, up 17% from now.

Mr Chaiwut said the target is part of the government’s policy for post-Covid-19 pandemic economic recovery, including building digital infrastructures particularly cloud services, empowering digital business and creating a quality digital society.

He said the government has implemented a 20-year digital Thailand development roadmap in three phases — starting with creating a digital foundation and inclusion and reaching out to full digital transformation and becoming a leading global digital player.

The ministry has deployed free broadband internet for 74,987 villages over the past few years and boosted the capacity of submarine cables as part of the moves to turn the country into an Asean digital hub, Mr Chaiwut said.

“The internet penetration has now reached 80% of the country’s population while Thailand is the first mover of 5G wireless broadband in Asean,” Mr Chaiwut said.

Thailand has deployed 20,000 5G stations and has 4.3 million 5G users, which is 2.5 times the total number of 5G subscribers in other Asean countries combined.

Thailand’s 5G-empowered economy is expected to be as much as 2.3 trillion baht by 2035, according to a joint forecast by the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission, Time Consulting and Huawei.

The pandemic has caused disruption in people’s normal life, in business and society, but the government has provided assistance to them via applications, Mr Chaiwut said, adding that Thai people are at the forefront in using internet banking and financial services through apps.

According to the minister, three approaches will be used to drive economic recovery in the wake of the pandemic.

The first involves a push to boost the capacity of digital infrastructure to accommodate innovation adoption and digital economy roadmaps, particularly data centres supporting cloud services.

The National Telecom (NT) provides the Government Data Center and Cloud Service (GDCC), which serves cloud usage among state agencies.

The second approach concerns efforts to empower digital business, which currently accounts for 17% of the country’s GDP. The government wants to see it surge to 30% by 2030, Mr Chaiwut said.

“Local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) must be supported to adopt digital platforms to catch growth in the digital economy,” he said.

Lastly, the government wants to create a quality digital society by ramping up efforts to thwart cybercrime and online fraud that's growing alongside the digital economy.

The Industry Ministry plans to use the metaverse concept to train a new generation of Thai workers in virtual reality (VR) technology under its Creative Industry Village scheme. Metaverse refers to a non-physical world in which people can virtually interact with one another and the Industry Ministry wants to apply this digital technology economically.

“Digital technology plays a key role in solving many challenges, including global warming and an ageing population,” said Nattapol Rangsitpol, director-general of the Department of Industrial Promotion, during a seminar on “Powering Digital Thailand 2022”.

“The technology appears in almost everything and can be used to improve people’s quality of lives,” he said.

The Industry Ministry plans to use the metaverse concept to enhance learning efficiency as well as improve workers’ skills under its Creative Industry Village scheme, which is also aimed to develop local economies in the country.

“People wear VR headsets, create their own characters and simply travel to places like Ayutthaya,” said Mr Nattapol, referring to one application of the metaverse technology.

The Industry Ministry also plans to modernise the industrial sector through its “six-S’s policy” which includes S-Curve industry development by promoting the use of an automation system to solve a shortage of labourers in factories.

Another “S” in the policy is smart industrial agriculture development, which is aimed to promote the use of technology to plan and manage farming, food processing and marketing.
