Terrorists waiting to cross LoC, warns Intelligence Bureau.
Ashraf Wani Gurez (Jammu & Kashmir), September 2, 2011 | UPDATED 11:50

Pakistani terrorists across the border have been waiting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has warned. The terrorists, camping in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (***), have been exploring new ways to cross the Line of Control (LoC), the agency has said.

The (IB) warning coincides with the violation of ceasefire by Pakistan on Wednesday night when some militants tried to infiltrate into the Indian territory in the key Keran sector, which is the major ingress route of militants from across the border.

An Indian junior commissioned officer (JCO) and three Pakistani soldiers had been killed in the first major violation of ceasefire in Kashmir Valley as troops from the two sides traded heavy gunfire.

The ceasefire violation comes on the heels of a major infiltration bid foiled by the Indian army a few days ago in Gurez sector. Shockingly, this time the militants used a river route to cross into Kashmir Valley.

The IB terror alert even said that many terrorists have already infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir.

While the Indian forces have been strengthening their guard along the LOC, the terror groups have found a novel route for infiltration. They have been trying to cross the Kishanganga river, the virtual LoC between the two sides.

Elaborating a recent military operation which foiled the terrorists' bid to infiltrate taking the river route, Kupwara General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General S.K. Chakravarty said that around a dozen Lashkar-e-Toiba militants had been killed about two weeks ago while trying to cross the river in rubber boats.

However, even after foiling the major infiltration bid, army feared that many more such attempts could be made by the terror groups to disrupt peace in the valley. "They are trying to send more terrorists and will continue attempts," said Major General Chakravarty.

The Indian Army's fears were not unfounded. Dense jungles make Gurez a hotspot for the militants to make their way into Indian side. More than a dozen infiltration bids have been foiled along the LoC in Kupwara district in August, 2011 alone. In July, intelligence inputs revealed that 400 militants were holed up in 42 camps close to the LOC waiting to infiltrate.

Last year, 489 militants had attempted to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir of which 112 were killed by the security forces.

The defence forces however have been strengthening their base to fight the menace. Underground bunkers have been built to keep a watch on the dense jungles of Gurez. These bunkers are equipped with cameras and monitoring screens to keep an eye on the area.

put sentry guns in Gurez and Keran sectors or just on the entire LoC that way any SOB who tries to infiltrate will be turned into swiss cheese

Well done India army, you guys have the toughest jobs in the World, trying to protect India, from militants across the border.

Did we not kill 3 of them infiltrating a day before? when will these guys improve

Wonder what will be the reaction of the Mods/Admins if I paste pictures as above in the threads where Pakistani members are crying a river about Terrorists from Afghanistan coming in and killing their Para Military forces like recently in Chitral ...

Its a shame that some Pakistanis are allowed to ruin threads by posting off-topic things and posting pictures of rubbish.

There are just trolls out to ruin things.

Pakistan are face very big problem to Terrorists activities..............
