Very limited ToT, and 30 to 35 billion $ cost in the long run. That is a budget killing deal. India was better off buying around 100 Rafales off the shelf and negotiating for another 100 to be built in India, that would have made a win-win deal.

Because, firstly, it will not survive sophisticated Chinese air defence; secondly, Dassault won’t allow the indigenous Brahmos supersonic cruise missile to take out targets inside China from standoff range to be integrated with it; and thirdly, because the Rafale is a compromised system for another reason. Pakistan is the prime conduit for Western military, especially aerospace, technologies to China. A Qatari Rafale will be disassembled in Pakistan for Chinese engineers to scrutinise, or wing its way to a Chengdu Aircraft Industry Groupsite for its best features and technologies to be reverse-engineered and incorporated in Chinese combat aircraft, and otherwise permit the Chinese military to familiarise itself with its technical weaknesses and configure appropriate counter-measures and counter-tactics.

Part you highlighted would not really create much of issue. Public usually trust Govt on such matter or does not understand complexity of national security. But, if there is corruption angle or even an allegation, then Govt could be in court. Opposition would create serious problems. The thing that easily get sold in India to general public is Corruption.

The Indian Express can be trusted most of the times though this article is an opinion piece & not a news story. I have not been a fan of the Rafale deal because of the costs & the attitude of the French (both in this & other deals) but this article is about as mangled & garbled an article as I have seen. Seems to smack of desperation. Maybe the feeling is that the government is sorting this deal out. Whatever the reasons, this article smells of dung. I have read pretty much every piece that comes out on this deal. arguing both ways but this article is pretty much the pits. One can actually sense the frothing at the mouth here. Reflects pretty poorly on the author.

No it will not for a SIMPLE Reason ; we have a DIFFERENT Prime Minister this time

If the Modi government signs a deal ; it means INDIA has got a good deal

The PREVIOUS government was neck deep in Corruption and nepotism

Secondly National security and National Interests were given a short shrift
by MMS Government

If we SURVIVED that Period it is because of the Bureaucracy ;
The Uniformed personnel of the Armed Forces both Serving and retired ;

1)you don't have a good reputation of your industry and tool for building aircrafts, if something is coming as in TOT let it come.

2) Even if Su30mki are decided to compensate this 126 fighters how much time will it take? 244 are already being built.

3) Resources and time wasted on this deal.

Let, them bargain the cost and keep watch that during the deal no bofors kaand II happens.
