Tension along Tamabil border

Failing to understand the silence of our
armed forces. Its true the organization has become
a bit politicized upto a certain extent but there should be
far more personnels to keep endeavors like this in check,
who are not politically motivated . They should certainly
challenge the decision taken by this dangerous gov.

Its a really frustrating time for our country.
Can't blame the Indians for looking after their own interests
but ourselves for being silent after repeated failures by this
govt to look after the countries interest.

As someone mentioned earlier, this is part of the land swapping deal between India Bangladesh in order to properly demarcate the border. It has been agreed upon by both Indian and Bangladeshi governments. The armed forces work for their respective governments. So when India looses land, the job of Indian armed forces is to pacify Indian civilians. farmers, locals. And thats exactly what Bangladeshi Armed forces should do too, when Bangladesh looses land. Pacify Bangladeshi farmers, locals and inform them about the land swap deal.

You can't possibly expect armed forces to start hostilities for couple of hectares of land. People at the helm of things know what they are doing. Remember political parties come and go, but the bureaucrats remain the same, and its them who chalk out such deals. So no "Awami Indian stooge" and all that please.

.
Jamati leaders are less corrupted comparing to BNP and Awamileague.... there is hardly any allegation of corruption against Jamati ministers.. they have no grouping among them. their student wing is most organized. To me they are the future... though i am hard core BNP supporter i admire them.. at present their problem is their leader is proven Razakar.... and common Bangladeshis will never vote for any rajakar.. they have to change their leadership for their own benefit.

I concur. The secularist munafiq groups has always been try to label Jamaatis as un-Islamic and enemy of BD however they have proved to be patriot and very Islamic since they are corruption free. Allah will not forgive those steal from other.

Awami is just plain thief and ineffective because most Awami leaders has come from low class Muslim family( No kandani identity). They are fit for servantship rather than leadership.

BNP has done good but I find most BNP leaders(current scenario) doesn't really follow Zia's ideology. They are opportunistic. It's end time for Begum Zia. If Allah allow then she will have another chance to run the country in near future. It will be a good opportunity for her to install only Patriotic Islamic forces in key places to stair the country in right direction.

Jamaat stood for unification Pakistan and I found nothing wrong with that since it was their right to defend Pakistan as Pakistani citizen. People of Bangladesh should give Jamaat a change to run the country. I believe they will bring prosperity although it will be hell for anti-Islamic seularist.

The portion of land in discussion does not
fall into the depiction of enclaves. Enclaves falling inside
a countries territory naturally belongs to that entity.

This land on the contrary had been in our
possession for the last 40 yrs, with hills and rock formations,
just not another mundane geography. Local population
even took lease of that territory from the gov.

You can stop cheerleading for some biased decision.

Did I say enclaves anywhere? I was talking about Adversely Possessed Lands.

Chidambaram said issues relating to enclaves, adversely possessed land (APL) and undemarcated border will be resolved during the visit of Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Headcount at the enclaves had been completed last week, and it was found that 51,000 people live in these enclaves.

"APL issue is nearly resolved and only one or two cases need to be taken care of, and 6.5 kilometres of the undemarcated boundary issue will be resolved before the visit of Indian prime minister."

Government hostage to India, says Fakhrul

fakrul-sm20110730190554.jpg

DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir fulminated that the government plays into the hands of India as they are giving “everything” to the neighboring country.

“We are not informed about the treaties already signed or to be signed with India--and even the people of the country do not know anything about the treaties,” he said, as a latest one was sealed.

The spokesperson for the former ruling party came up the allegation while addressing a Human Rights Convention organized by Bangladesh Labour Party at the National Press Club.

He deplored that no problems with India like water sharing of the Ganges and the Teesta, halting Tipaimukh Dam construction, reducing trade gap, demarcating maritime border and return of Tinbigha corridor are being resolved.

In this context, he quipped: “We are only giving to India, getting nothing in return.”

Observing that the movement against the government is not getting momentum for a lack of spirit among the youth, he said: “Today I do not see any spirit of protest among the students of Dhaka University when India snatches away our land, when my sister’s body hangs from the barbed wire on border, innocent Bangladeshis are shot down like birds and when conspiracy goes on to make our northeastern region into a desert by constructing Tipaimukh Dam.”

Mirza Fakhrul also opined that Khaleda Zia is advancing slowly towards unseating the incumbent government by mobilizing people’s anti-government opinion.

With party secretary-general Dr Mostafizur Rahman in the chair, the convention was also addressed, among others, by JAGPA president Shafiul Alam Pradhan and Dhaka City Jamaat Amir Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan.

Vice-chancellor of the University of Development Alternative (UODA) and former VC of Dhaka University Professor Dr Emajuddin Ahamed inaugurated the convention.

Hhhhmmmmmm........... Are we going to war with Bangladesh????

The BNP chap is whinging about no freebies to his party and because Hasina seems to be stealing the thunder.

One must understand that a nation is a societal mix coalesced to be united through delusion about its ancestry and by common hatred of its neighbours. (This was said by Inge)

That apart, all is quiet on the Western Front!

I'm not sure but according to some sylhetis the areas in question
are either the two of this *(marked in red)

Try locating areas falling under Indian territories(not enclaves). According
to land swap deals.

There was 6.5 KM of undemarcated border between India and East Pakistan, which is now being settled between India and Bangladesh. And this issue is related to that 6.5 KM disputed border.

A member of the joint survey team, wishing anonymity, told , “Some 220 acres of land from No 1270 to No 1271 border pillar, 33 acres from No 1277 to No 1279 pillar of Naljuri border and 8 acres from No 1263 to No 1267 pillar of Linkhat border were handed over to India in phases in last one week.”

Local people have not been informed about the matter due to safety of the survey- team members.

Director of Survey Department Md. Iqbal earlier told over mobile phone, “The government is trying to reach a decision on the pending matter.”

He again said the decision has been taken “according to the consent of the two countries“.

In the wake of the land capture by the BSF ? on Friday morning, a tense situation is prevailing in the area.

So when your government and the Indian side has decided on this handover, how exactly is the land capture by BSF then? Scare mongering round the clock. As I said earlier, your armed forces should inform the local populace about the whole deal.

The process of being a leader is based on meritocracy not nepotism:coffee: .

Defending pakistan is one thing, killing innocent bangladeshis is another thing
