Launched in January 2020, the Tata Nexon EV has crossed 4,000 unit sales milestone, the homegrown carmaker announced on Thursday. It has also become the most-selling EV in India in March 2021.

In the EV segment alone, the company has managed to sell 4,219 units in FY21, a threefold increase against the previous financial year. Tata Motors said that it has registered its highest-ever monthly and quarterly EV sales of 705 units and 1,711 units in March'21 and Q4 FY21, respectively. The company also added that it is leading the personal EV segment with 71% market share in FY21.

The battery-powered Nexon was originally launched in early 2020 starting from ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It has been offered in three trims - XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX.

Needless to say, there isn't much competition to the Nexon EV in the market. The other rivals to Tata's electric car include the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric, but both these cars are placed much higher in the segment. What has really helped the Tata EV is that it is more affordable than these two other options and still has a claimed full charge range of 300 km.

It also comes with some interesting features such as the automatic climate control, auto head lights, electric sunroof, seven-inch infotainment screen, electric tail gate, park assist, auto rain-sensing wipers, and more. It charging options include a 15A home socket or a fast charger. Ziptron technology compatibility allows for dual charging. Externally, it is very much similar to its gas-powered counterpart.

"Since its launch, it has consistently emerged as a market leader in its segment," said Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit at Tata Motors. "In a short span of time, the Nexon EV has been widely accepted by the customers, enthusiasts and the industry."

The Tata Nexon EV has an ARAI-tested driving range of 312 km, but as we all know, those figures are quite hard to replicate in real-world traffic conditions. If you are using it completely for city purposes and an occasional long drive, then yes 312km is more than enough. An average city user drives around 50 kms to 60kms per day. Now even if that is inflated to 100 or 120 kms its still more than enough. And by occasional long drive i mean any radius of approximately 250kms up and down or 250 kms one sided per day. Dont calculate 312 kms range fully as most of ARAI certified range is based on certain specifically controlled conditions. In real world you can expect a maximum 250 kms range with a buffer range of 25 to 30 kms depending on how economically you drive.

This guy has saved 2.2 lakh pkr in these high petrol price days.
Also he is iitian with a 3d printing business.
His innovation for the ecar to meet a real life issue.
Range anxiety being the no 1 issue , cruise control addition mitigates the physical need for maintaining a constant speed to conserve battery.

If you are driving in a highway, Tata Nexon EV gives more than 312. My friend completed journey from Chennai to Trichy (350km) in a single charge.
However the city driving gives you less range due to usage of Air Conditioning and stop gap traffic.

MG sucks dude...the Nexon is way better in terms of drive quality. If you intend to go for a petrol car, I'd suggest Kia

Depends upon the country you live in I guess. In Canada Kia is considered crap. Especially before 2018 models. 😂

Kia was crap until 2018-19...it was only after they came up with a completely new design language, both interior & exterior along with some improvements in the engine and introduction of tech features which happened in late 2019-2020 is when I felt they're worth considering

Kia Telluride is the #1 ranked SUV in it's segment...even the K5 took over full size sedan space here in the US. In India, Seltos is one of the best selling compact SUVs'
