Every state in India already has Autonomy. India has a Federal structure. In fact the Modi govt. is keen to grant more autonomy to the states. He has already raised the share of state funds from 40% of income to 60%. How much more autonomy can they have ? The biggest problem is that state reject autonomy and rush to the center for more funds, more forces, more paramilitary to handle state crisis. More states demand CBI enquiry than trust their own state police.
No one puts their state over India, but almost all put their individual pride before the collective. Maharashtra has policy of promoting marathi and all state govt. documents and applications are in Marathi. "Marathi manoos" is the first criteria for a govt. job. Pride in Marathi literature, Marathi movies, Culture is demonstrated day in day out. "Jai Maharashtra" is their slogan.
The same is true for Karnataka where kannada language is given preference. Kannada culture, food, literature is given special consideration and treatment.
This promotion of state language, culture, values etc is the very essence of India. ALL states in India do it. From Kashmir, to Punjab, to Gujarat to Bengal to Assam to Kerala. This only strengthens India, not weaken it. If you had really lived in various states in India you would have known this to be true.
Finally most of India voted for BJP, a hindutva party and brought it to power with a full majority. So its pretty evident that this feeling existing beyond PDF.
We have 40seats in TN, how can we get the power in centre? How every other states will understand the importance that we give to our culture? How north india can decide tamil culture, or how tamil nadu can decide Bengali culture? Everyone will give utmost importance only to their culture, no one will care how it impacts the others.. We should have the right to frame our laws, to preserve our culture language and identity, autonomy or independence is the only way forward now.
Like hitler said, to kill a ethnic group kill their culture first, to kill a culture kill their language first. This is what North Indians are trying to do for a long time.

All states give importance to their culture. Tamil Nadu is not "special" in that respect. North Indians themselves have Bengali, Gujarati, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Orriya etc. They are least bothered about TN to hatch a grand "conspiracy theory" to wipe out your existence. The whole idea is so ludicrous that it is beyond funny.
