He is the brother of JUI (F) leader Maulana Fazlul Rahman. The only reason he is the Minister of Tourism (should have been Terrorism but we don't have that position) is becuase PPP wants an ally in the religious parties and who better than Jamaat-e-Islami (legend has it that it was Jamaat-e-Shaitani).
Recently I and my family were flying out of Karachi and we made our way to the airport in style with a few cars. Karachi looks beautiful in the morning and the empty clean streets made it our journey much quicker and easier. As soon as we arrived at the airport, a barrage (20+) of security cars including rangers were in front of us.
It was as if the president of USA was flying out of the airport. But it wasn't anyone close to that, it was our very own dashing Tourism Minister sitting in a brand new BMW 5 series occupying the whole back seat (this is before Eid, imagine what happens after it).
So while people are dying in bomb blasts, target killings and natural disasters. Our Tourism Minister who I am very sure cannot even spell tourism is zooming around with full security for a flight to Mecca.
What a grand waste it is for our poor country to waste money on such people who by means know how to do the job they are assigned and only get the position because of the religious-bully tactics.
PPP is an absolute failure of a government, things are about to get much worse for Pakistan though as they have offered the chairmanship of Islamic Council to Maulana Sheerani (JUI), a known hardliner who will single headedly take us back to the days of Zia.
