Taliban Pledge to Amend Their Hard-Line Stance on Women’s Rights

well as I said -- men should be allowed to display their penises -- there is a lot of information contained in the state of a man's erection.
It conveys only one information, as I said. Anyway you are further demonstrating that you are only interested in quibbling. I see no point in continuing this discussion, given the increasingly belligenerent tone of your latter posts.

Nobody gave me the authority, and I did not say that as a decree. I gave my reasons for what I said. That is how people substantiate their points - with reasons. Not by authority or decree.

In this vein I can ask who gave you "special licensure" for any remark you make. "Who gave you the "licensure" to say that?"

Anyway I can see that this is going nowhere. You are more interested in winning a debate than discussing an issue.

No sorry -- this is a false argument -- I have not stated a position -- I'm just pointing out holes in your arguments

Does it limit his ability in the same way that hiding the face does? Other than sexual excitement, is there anything else an erection can convey?

But smiles, laughter, frowns and all thesefacial expressions are an intrinsic part of communicating and connecting with others. If you are more interested in discussing the point than trying to win a debate contest, you would know that.

But who gets to decide that men should not be allowed to show their erections ?

Why not ? you seem to have no definitive framework that applies to men and women.

The only thing substantiative you have said is that the government has the right to frame laws -- I agree.

But other than that ... you wish to impose what you want

It conveys only one information, as I said. Anyway you are further demonstrating that you are only interested in quibbling. I see no point in continuing this discussion, given the increasingly belligenerent tone of your latter posts.

No maam -- the quibbling charge just demonstrates that you have are out of intellectual fuel -- that's what people say when they can't come up with anything to back their arguments up.

Why is the state of arousal less important than say smiles.

Here is my submission -- you're just as bad as the Taliban -- you say face yes -- breasts no?!

And you use some anecdotal arguments that you try to pass off as intellectual heft.

So again I think it is intellectual lightweights that do the cause of liberalism harm like yourself.

"Much strict"? What a polite (and wrong) way to put it. The way women became slaves wasn't about strictness or laxity, it was criminal and evil. Professional women, even ones who held advanced degrees (including PHDs) were forced to begging or prostitution to support themselves, because they were forbidden from working. A woman who didn't have a husband (for whatever reason) had no choice, but to do either of the above, or kill herself.

Many people here are sugarcoating their crimes when they use such soft language, and imply that it is a difference in degree of right and wrong. No, it is not that they should not have gone that far - a mile or an inch, the journey was evil.
I dont believe they were forced to beg or become prostitute when they were not allowed to work. And yes they were strict to them. Do u know anything about women in India? Arent they suppressed by lot of rapes and haunted by everyone everytime. Taliban crossed limits and now they got their lesson. What else u want? I think u have problem with my being polite?

These are non-issues, feminist garbage of west . Taliban didnt allow girls education and women's work outside their homes, now they have soften their stance which i thought they would never, this is huge news. I know for feminists and westerns , this is still not "free and ideal society" for women, they would like to see women sexualized and nude in Afghanistan, they want "madar pidar azad" society with no family values and traditions.........

I was watching this clip of interview of Reza Aslan by CNN and the female host was blabbing non-sense , that women are subjected to worst kind of treatment in muslim world., that their genitals are mutilated (the guest corrected her that it is African problem, found even in christian ethopia), then she said, "in Pakistan, women are stoned to death..........................................

West should keep their twisted sense of morality to themselves, first they should fix their marital disasters, explosive divorce rate , in America 70% of people are born out of wedlock, i.e they are bastards.........bastards shouldn't teach us family values, traditions and culture. We also dont welcome their promotion for gay marriages.

Yet their country is one of the richest in the the world and yours is one of the poorest.

So stop deflecting the real issue, to put it in your own words. Talk about women's rights to study, work, not cover their face unless they want to and s on, instead of nudity or fornication.

You think it was only women's rights? Or you are sexist like whole misinformed world out there? Anyone ever raised a voice that they made Men to grow beards, listening to music, watching tv, and letting their women go alone outside? and had strict punishments in place if someone would not follow that, no that would not help sell the story to invade a country and kill its people, rather make it oh women are slaves, oppressed blah blah blah. Women did not suffer the 1% of wrath that men in Afghanistan faced. I would support the women cause but not for blame game and propaganda to achieve ones own evil goals.

And it is crooked world we live in, this world was ready to pay money to save some statues but not to save famine struck starving children of Afghanistan.

I would have agreed if situation in Afghanistan was somewhat different, but right now the whole world wants these drug addicts (as you would prefer to call them) to come to the negotiation table and discuss the matters. Don't know how they survived all this technological advanced onslaught but I am sure it was not drugs.

Yet their country is one of the richest in the the world and yours is one of the poorest.
And they have strongest army and all, i know that, whats your point?, You think by adopting or mimicking Western culture, you will become richest in the world?......Arabs of Gulf are very rich.

Just lay down arms and become part of democracy and National rebuilding process.
Get reasonable jobs become decent family men. Send ur kids to school make them doctors engineers accountants lawyers technicians Teachers. Dont make militias Take oath for the government and register in the armed forces.
Instead of "When we come to power"
Now only he will come to power who gets public mandate via Vote.

I think this is the only way furthur for Taliban and other Afghan Militias. Nobody can conquer Kabul via gun. It can only be taken control via vote

Really? Are you asking me why I am only speaking about women's issues and not men's? I'll tell you. No, scratch that - I'll let you figure it out yourself. I'll give a helpful hint for you - check out the title of this thread. And read the first post on which this thread is based. Do you get it now, why I was discussing only women's rights? Yes? No?

You know what being "on topic" in a discussion means, right?

And it is crooked world we live in, this world was ready to pay money to save some statues but not to save famine struck starving children of Afghanistan.
Plenty of American money has been spent on alleviating famine in Afghanistan, both before and after 2001. You are seeing what you want to see, and turning a blind eye to the rest.

Many of those "Afghan children" that you are ostensibly bleeding your heart for, are alive because of American (and world) assistance. You do not have a monopoly on kindness. It is your vision that is crooked, not the world itself. Get new glasses, ones that are unsullied by preconceived notions - you will be surprised at how your perception of the world changes. If you wear blinkered glasses, the world that you see will appear crooked.

Trouble is, the taliban does not recognize democracy as a legitimate system of govt. They consider it anti-islamic. According to them, an unelected theocracy cum dictatorship is the only islamic way of governance. (With themselves being the dictators, of course.)

If you have something to tell me simply say it, don't go round round I don't like confused people. So what is your point here and how what you said here is relevant to what I said?

I did not know US dropped bags of ration with every bomb they dropped on Afghans and their children. And do the drones do that too?

Plenty of American money has been spent on fighting wars based on pile of lies. For spilling blood of innocent, for detaining people illegally, for torturing, for raping. Go tell it to people who died at the hands of your new country US.

Hell I have met plenty of American citizens (all credit to them to make me differentiate between government of US and citizens of US) none of them thinks like you.

So in simple plain terms you are suggesting I should start watching Fox News?

And I don't wear glasses thanks to ALLAH and no thanks to you for whatever suggestion you were trying. And I never claimed monopoly over kindness. So don't know how you came up with this blah blah blah, I would have loved to participate in this D measurement competition with you but I guess I will be the only winner, so better avoid personal attacks at me and say something to convince me, that too if you can?

Ok, I'll say it as simply as I can, so that any simple minded person can understand.

You accused me of talking only about women's rights and ignoring the sufferings of men under the taliban regime.

I was informing you that the topic of the thread is women's rights, which is why I was talking about women's rights.

If a thread about persecution of men (or people in general) comes up, I shall talk about that.

There, is that simple enough for you? If not, I'm sorry, I cannot explain it any more simpler.

My response was not about the US' actions. It was a response to your post that people in this "crooked world" only spend money for statues, and not for alleviating hunger. That simply is not true - plenty of money and material have been sent to Afgh both by USAID, as well as UN and a few other countries. And this was happening way before the 2001 invasion. Even during Taliban rule, US donated wheat accounted for a substantial part of their daily food.

So in simple plain terms you are suggesting I should start watching Fox News?
No, I am telling you that you are unaware of certain facts. For example, like your assertion that the "crooked world" is not interested in helping starving Afghan children. (As if only you are aware of their plight. As if the UN, the US and EU have not been trying to help them for decades.)

That will never happen as I said already it does not help sell the lies to invade countries. So leave it.

And my accusation still remains, don't hide under the cover, topic is limited to Taliban's mistreatment of women only so I cannot say anything about their mistreatment of males. It sounds sexist and hypocrite.

Search for taliban interview given to your media while sitting in US, before invasion of Afghanistan. I don't have access to youtube otherwise I would have provided you the link. And Hillary Clinton is on record acknowledging that it was US's fault to leave Pakistan alone to deal with Afghanistan after USSR downfall.
