FAISALABAD – A leader of Tablighi Jamaat was murdered while another was injured over differences of religious beliefs in Chiniot on Wednesday.
According to Sadar Police Station SHO Muhammad Afzal, 70-year-old Waliur Rehman was leading an 11-member team of a Tablighi Jamaat and travelled from Raiwind to Chiniot for missionary purposes.
“During the course, Waliur Rehman and his group went to the house of two brothers Ikram Khan and Imran Khan, who were students of Darul Uloom Muhammadia Ghousia, Bhera, Sargodha District,” he told Express Tribune.
The injured was shifted to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad for treatment.

“Waliur Rehman had an argument with Ikram and Imran over a difference of opinion over religious beliefs.”
The SHO said, “On the day of the incident, Waliur Rehman and one of his companions Abdullah Khan were sleeping in a mosque when accused Ikram and Imran attacked them with a spade.”
“As a result, Rehman was killed on the spot while Abdullah suffered critical injuries on various parts of the body,” he said.
“The police have arrested accused Ikram while his brother is still at large.”
A case has also been registered against them under sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of victim’s son-in-law Muhammad Rafique.
