Swedish mosque set ablaze

An arsonist set fire to a mosque in the Swedish town of Eskilstuna on Thursday, injuring five people, police said, according to the BBC.

About 15 to 20 people were attending midday prayers in the mosque, located in the ground floor of a residential building, when the fire broke out.

Local media footage showed smoke and flames billowing from the windows before firefighters put the blaze out.

The incident comes amid a fierce debate in Sweden over immigration policies.

The far right wants to cut the number of asylum seekers allowed into Sweden by 90%, while mainstream parties are intent on preserving the country's liberal policy.

"A witness saw somebody throw an object through the window of the building, which serves as a mosque, after which a violent fire began," police spokesman Lars Franzell told reporters, according to the BBC.

Five people were taken to hospital for treatment of injuries ranging from smoke inhalation to lacerations, he said.

Police are treating the incident as arson but no arrests have been made so far, Franzell added.

Eskilstuna, which has a large immigrant population, was the scene of clashes involving neo-Nazi groups opposed to Sweden's immigration policy earlier this year, the report said.

On December 3, the Sweden Democrats - a populist party with a strongly anti-immigration agenda - brought down the minority governing coalition after it had been in power for just two-and-a-half months, by refusing to support its budget plans.

I'm not condoning/justifying this action of burning the Mosque, but the Muslims themselves are to blame for this. You don't see Swedes burning hindu temples or Jewish synagogues.

There was a group who wanted a sharia zone in Stockholm if i remember correctly, @Desert Fox and @Imran Khan arent wrong in this, imagine a Christian demanding a Christian only zone in a muslim country, in at least half of them he would be beheaded before he could finish his sentence.

Your full of wisdom aren't you. First it was nuke the Fata region and now justifying the burning of Mosques and by the way those 5000 deaths are in the Muslim world and are to down numerous reasons one being religious extremism.

I have heard of them but they are a minority and should be punished but I was not doubting Desert Fox I just asked if he could provide some sensible links.
