My father is currently in India and has not been chucking his rubbish out of the car window as per normal. Improvement I guess.

That's a great thing.

This is the least everyone should do - atleast do not aggravate the problem, by increasing the pile.

Otherwise, any effort to clear the huge backlog by organized cleanup by govt or even one-time "celebrity" efforts will be undone.

The cleanup begins with us.

Only then all the dump trucks, shovels, earth moving equipments etc. have a chance win the other battle, i.e. organized cleanup by govt bodies.

dil se mat le, mein to mazak kar raha tha ye soch ke ki hum kitna gandha culture practice kar hara tha aur ye tera hal soch ke... tu moha kush se desh seba/ somaz seba karna chata hein and tera parents be like.....eeeeeeeeeeh bara aya desh seba karne.. chal hat

I have the same problem with my mom as well.She always throws our garbage at a nearby empty plot like all other residents in our locality who use that plot as a vat!!

We should launch a similar campaign to clear rubbish from our streets. Also people who just throw rubbish anywhere should be prosecuted.

I have the same problem with my mom as well.She always throws our garbage at a nearby empty plot like all other residents in our locality who use that plot as a vat!!

In our locality the garbage people come and take the trash from individual homes. We pay about Rs.50 per month. For high density neighbourhoods they can charge less. Why don't they implement that through out the nation? It will create a clean neighbourhood. No need to throw trash on the streets. Most of the street dogs survive by foraging on trash thrown on the streets.
