Sushma Swaraj was the first Indian minister to address the meeting of the 57 Islamic countries.

Abu Dhabi:

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today held bilateral talks with her counterparts from Bangladesh and the Maldives and exchanged views on the regional situation.

After addressing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Abu Dhabi, Ms Swaraj held talks with Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and her Bangladeshi counterpart AK Abdul Momen.

Ms Swaraj and Mr Shahid discussed follow up to Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's visit to India in December last year and also exchanged views on the regional situation, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

During her meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Mr Momen, the two leaders discussed issues of bilateral importance.

Ms Swaraj was the first Indian minister to address the meeting of the 57 Islamic countries.

India's participation came despite strong demand by Pakistan to rescind the invitation to Ms Swaraj to address the grouping which was turned down by the host UAE, resulting in Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi boycotting the plenary.

is this the same country who got a warm welcome in Pakistan right?
the crown prince of UAE?

India has played diplomatically well here, the country that was the founder of the OIC is out, while India is in

tells a lot about how well the recent "Masterstroke" is working

. .
An ineffective and absolutely useless organisation, there claims or comments dont matter to anyone. So called Ummah, nothing but a joke.

Pakistan should get rid of OIC membership..it serves no purpose and drags us into middle eastern affairs for no reason...the religious bigotry exported by middle east is prime culprit of terrorism in Pakistan.

Pakistan out of OIC means the organisation may just end up being another Arab league..Pakistan and Turkey are the only countries which put some efficacy in this joker league...if Pakistani diplomacy is strong enough to pull Turkey out...then prepare the coffin..OIC members at large are running on Gulf-Arab charity hand out..as such this organization is nothing but a joker league between donors and beggars.

time to exit it
so that India can take over and convert it into the Organization of Indian Cooperation

Ur frustration is quite visible.

In the process of isolating India from OIC, Pakistan itself got isolated. Haha ..

India hosts the third largest Muslim population in the world and they deserve to be in OIC not only as a guest but also as a member state.

We Bangladeshis wholeheartedly welcome our Indian friends in OIC. INDIA will make oic great again.

Perhaps to u. But to most of the other Muslim majority countries' the opinions of OIC matters a lot.

Diplomacy is not about sour grapes when things don't work out. It is about unwavering focus on your diplomatic goals and swallowing your pride if needed. Everything is not about pride.

India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership in fighting against the scourge of terrorism and said both the countries are the “victims of terrorism”.
She made the remark when she met her Bangladesh counterpart AK Abdul Momen at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

The foreign ministry said Momen conveyed the resolve of the prime minister to fight terror and violent extremism.

He highlighted Bangladesh’s strong actions to combat financing for terror and also in dismantling terror outfits.

Swaraj expressed her “deep satisfaction for the intense level of cooperation between the two countries in an atmosphere of amity and trust”.

The two sides discussed issues of bilateral and regional interest, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

They also discussed the issue of sustainable Rohingya repatriation.

The Bangladesh foreign minister highlighted the need for working together in areas such as inland waterways connectivity, coastal shipping and connecting service sectors – such as financial and capital markets.

Momen conveyed “the need to devise innovative mechanisms and instruments to leverage the economic potentials of both countries in a win-win manner and connect regional centres of trade and finance for harnessing higher levels of development synergy”.

The foreign minister attended the 46th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Abu Dhabi where he called for collective action to ensure accountability and justice to the Rohingyas and their immediate repatriation to their homeland in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.

The D8 Secretary General Jaafar Ku Shaari, Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi also met Momen on the sidelines.

When India being a Hindu country want to identify itself as Muslims.. why we as Muslim should object!!

.
It is better to make good relations with different countries individually, than expecting something big from the big organizations like OIC.

You know many men, many minds.

Better do something together with turkey and China and some others.
