Superstar Shah Rukh Khan Meets Raj Thackeray Ahead Of 'Raees' Release

Prior to his film Raee's release, Hindi-film superstar Shah Rukh Khan met Raj Thackeray in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena or MNS chief Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai.

The meeting, that took place in the evening, assumes significance as Mr Khan's upcoming film "Raees", which features Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, is scheduled for a release next month, party sources said.

After the meeting, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray told news agency ANI: "He (Shah Rukh Khan) had come to inform that rumours about Mahira Khan promoting Raees are false."

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray met Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday.

Notably, the MNS has in the past objected to casting of Pakistani actors in Indian movies citing the neighbouring country's reported involvement in terrorist attacks in India.


Earlier in October, the MNS had staged high-voltage protests against the release of filmmaker Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

The Bollywood superstar had previously run into trouble for the release of "My Name is Khan" in 2010, with Shiv Sena, opposing its screening then.

If you remember he had to confront shiv sena in 2010 during my name is khan. Shiv sena was a much bigger gunda party than MNS. Yet he did not back down. The state govt ensured that the film got a proper release, people supported him and shiv sena couldn't do anything. Now things are different and I won't blame SRK for offering his butt to gundas. The state govt has made it clear that they can't protect him or others in a similar situation.

Why the heck do you need to pull in the religion its from a political party. Its India not pakistan , as for shiv sena they only run their show in maharashtra /mumbai. State can arrest idiots but just like anti-social elements they will be back on streets again. Police will have more pressing matters like providing security to common ppl rather than wasting resources on antics of nutcases, its just a case of being practical.
