Today after calm of many months, a suicide bomber crashed his dumper filled with explosives with the security forces check post killing 3 security personals. The incident happened in Waliabad which is 5 kilometer away from khozakhela a district bordering with Shangla. Security forces have enforced the curfew
Khozakhela was cleared by army and there was a fool proof system of check posts established by security forces. IDP’s started returning the area from 25th of July.
Yesterday people of the area celebrated the Independence Day of Pakistan in same way as the people of other parts of Pakistan celebrated.
According to sources, the suicide dumper may have been prepared locally in the area because it’s next to impossible that such dumper escapes detection from security check posts of army police and other security agencies.
During the operation Rah e Rast military leadership in clear words said that that the operation is divided in two parts. In first Phase main fighting capability of Taliban was destroyed.
Second phase started with the return of IDP’s. With the help of IDP’s army is hunting down terrorists. This suicide attack is not result of any failure in operation as such attacks have happened in most secured cities of Lahore and Islamabad.
This attack has given clue about the underground net work of terrorists in area and soon the area will be cleared from them.
Prime minister and chief ministers of NWFP and Punjab visited Swat few days ago. This was in a way declaration of normality returning to Taliban infested areas. The biggest victory which army achieved in operation was the support of locals.
Counter insurgency involves three steps
In first step insurgents are indicated, and then they are separated from public and in last step eradicated. In first step government indicated the real and hard core Taliban and then successfully separated from locals by gaining sympathies and support of locals. At present locals are helping forces and giving information about where about of Taliban terrorists.
Full calm in Swat will not come in one or two months. Those who think so and criticize the government on that are living in fool’s paradise. What Government has gained in 2 months in swat and adjacent areas is more than, what Americans and ISAF, with high-fi gadgetry failed to achieve in city of Kabul in 8 years.
Today’s cowardly act of Taliban is an indication of Taliban defeat. It will now help forces to eliminate the remnants of terrorists in area who some how escaped the arrest or killing.
Its time we stand with our government and encourage our police and other security forces to find the remnant thugs with help of locals and eliminate them
