I think what @Austin Powers is simply saying is that human mind processes pictures/shapes faster than text/symbols, which is true. Analog dials are easier to read but heavier/bulkier, MFDs are harder to read but lighter. The solution is that one can have dials projected digitally on MFDs. It's the best of both worlds.

That's what Su-35 does. It's all glass cockpit. The dials are displayed in MFD. They are not physical dials like in the 1980s.

Human eyes are better tuned to read dials. Only digital information will hurt eyes.

If that's a logic then it may matter on how accurate information you need. If you need the most accurate information then yes dials too can be used but only will take more time to get the same information and will also waste pilots time trying to see the changing data.
