As a kid Adam Gilchrist wanted to be a fast bowler until the day he went out shopping with his family and a pair of WK Glover caught his eye. He was attracted so much that he decided to give up fast bowling.
As a kid Rodney Marsh was Gilly's biggest inspiration. Gilly broke his nose when he keeping for the first time. When someone told him that the same thing happened with Rod Marsh he thought it was cool. But when he trained under Rod Marshyears later, Marsh told him such a thing never happened. Bless that guy who lied to him
Also when he made his first-class debut for New South Wales he was played as a specialist batsman and wasnt allowed to keep. Just to continue his keeping he moved to Western Australia and played for whenever he get free time from national duties
So you can say Adam Gilchrist was always destinated to be the greatest wicket keeper in cricket history.
