Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa says he won't allow anti-India acts

I know a lot of Indians might probably not agree with me, but I think it's high time India accepted that it did not act responsibly w.r.t Sri Lanka.

Think about it. Why did the conflict start? It was because the Sri lankan Tamils were being marginalzed in their own lands(circa 1960s). Instead of pressuring the then Sri lankan Govt. to mend its ways and offering to help them form an inclusive democratic process, we decided to start an armed struggle there. And instead of reining in our Tamil Nationalists, we decided to bow down to them. None of this are the hallmarks of a mature, responsible state.

The India of 1980s was definitely like a harmone-raging teenager! rebellious, distrustful of all its neighbours, and indulged in a lot of unwanted adventurism. We created a demon and sent our troops to fight them?? This is US Military policy, isn't it? And it's not seen as a good model, isn't it?

Anyways, to those who support their so called Hindu/Tamil "brothers" of Sri Lanka, how is your policy any different from what Pakistanis feel towards Kashmiris?(neither is justified!). This trans-national love and intra-national hatred towards one another ought to stop!

Sri Lankans, You've done the right thing! Crush any form of such extremism that threatens the integrity of your motherland. At the same time, ensure that Sri Lanka belongs to all her citizens, not just the Buddhists!

That is true for all states that have been ruled by monarchies. For the Dynasty, the right to rule becomes a birthright. Responsible rule takes a secondary if not a tertiary priority. Imposing oneself on the nation becomes mandatory. After that if one gets bored, they try other neighbors.

Where do Hindus die like dogs in SL?

you reaped what you sow, had india not sealed for year the rearm route for LTTE, you can guess what would have been situation there
What would have been the situation? For 30 years we had war, we are quite familiarized with war. War is bad, but now SLns are not scared of war, cos we’ve seen it. We l have a jungle in the middle of north SL ruled by terrorists, occasional suicide bombings and massacres of villagers living in border line. This was the situation so this would continue.
Also SL defense had figured out many LTTE suicide carders and were in a position to prevent any suicide bomb in SL. :D After 2008 you can check LTTE didn’t have a successful suicide mission.
The only thing would be people in north (whom many of you pretend to care) would live in extremely bad circumstances.

had india not stopped arming LTTE you might have been counting how many more presidents, defense ministers gone
India stopped arming SL way back in 87. India was forced to war with LTTE. So india didn’t stop arming them out of sympathy for SL but because the guns were turned at them.
Also I see a tendency of Indians here boasting abt arming LTTE.
Listen honey the weapons India provided LTTE was sh1t. As prabhakaran himself told media, India had given them unusable old weapons which Prabha gave back to Indian army during IPKF period cos LTTE was required to return weapons according to Ind-Sl accord.
The funny thing is LTTE acquired much improved weapons from other countries using Madras as a hub while LTTE was fighting IPKF. Yes India was helping LTTE fight IPKF! That is the same reason why other militant groups like TELO which relied on Indian given weapons were wiped out by LTTE who had better weapons.
and sooner or later they would've started attacking india as well. it's beyond doubt that india didn't do it for the benefit of sri lanka
Yep. That is a reason why India helped SL. The moment LTTE acquired helicopters India was concerned cos LTTE could attack India’s nuclear stations.
Lol .. if u really think India started the armed struggle, then you would be naive to think we can't start it again ! Mercenaries like LTTE can be propped up anytime !
Every one rational in SL knw what created the conflict in SL. But the ones who made it bloodier was India.
Well we surely hope he doesn't allow any anti-India activities in Lanka, India-Lanka friendship is beneficial for both countries
And India should not allow anti Lankan activities in india.
IMHO, the shift in policy wasn't due to the assassination, the assassination was due to the shift in policy......recently watched 'Madras Cafe'...
Not exactly, any how films are not a source to learn these things :D
I too watched Madras Café. How do u think the film is?
Anyway I think they tried to talk about lot of themes in their movie and made it very complex. Not a very a good spy thriller. The creator had tried to be very safe not picking sides, so I felt for them for the difficult times they had to endure in Chennai and in UK.
