I'm so proud of our boys.. We lost to Spain on a sissy goal. But they didn't miss a beat after being scored on. I'm really encouraged by the heart and talent that the boys showed to come back and put the heat on Spain, score once and have it disallowed and create so many near goals on arguably the most powerful team in the world. No sad feelings here.... Portugal watch out!

well an interesting fact about the game in first half Iran only managed 49 successful passes in first half, on the bright side it's not the worst in history of the world cup, the worst belong to the game between Iran and Argentina (2014) that Iran managed to have 47 successful passes in first half of the game.

For me what was very revealing is what happened after they conceded. Everybody was saying all Iran can do is defend. But as soon as they needed, it's as if they turned on a switch and took control of the game against Spain and came within a hair of equalizing. For me that's the sign of a well coached and disciplined team that is executing a plan, as opposed to playing emotionally. Of course we are not at a level to do this from minute 1. But it shows that we have options.Now against Portugal, if we can neutralize Ronaldo, we might just make it....

Our boys played very well against Spain, I'm very proud of them. Practically Majid Hosseini kicked the ball into our own goal. We took control of the game after that goal, But sadly luck wasn't on our side.
Now we should focus on winning the Portugal, If we can manage Ronaldo we have a good chance of winning that game.

yes they're a counter-attacking team. But between the 2, Iran is gonna assume more of that role. But I would say they're a lot more one-dimensional team than Spain. And the majority of the talent is concentrated in Ronaldo. Also, don't forget Quieroz. He used to be their coach!!! I know it's a long shot... but after today's performance, don't count Iran out just yet...

Nice pressing work by Iran but just don't have that Ali Karimi Clibre player or Khodada Azizi type game changer in FW position

Lot of Aggressive pressing like Greece and for most part of game it worked

Portugal relies on Ronaldo, So far he scored all of Portugals goals in this World Cup. He is the backbone of Portugal's team, If we manage him well and perform as good as tonight's we will win Portugal.
