I agree, US should withdraw its troops and perhaps even shrink some of its forces in Japan. That will save you some cash and help your economy. But instead your government wants more increase in defense spending, increase costs of health care, increase tax, more robbery. US debt is reaching unprecedented level in history. I hope Trump can save you guys. Hillary sure won't, she is part of the establishment herself.

You think he's not intelligent enough to figure that once he starts throwing nukes he and DPRK will be totally destroyed? I'm very sure he's much smarter than you are. I can understand not wanting to get too involved in foreign conflicts. But closing military bases as a cost cutting measure makes no sense if your goal is a large increase in military spending as Trump's is.

I want to remind some of the naive souls in here, and truthfully it would take someone like me to fully comprehend the complexity of nuclear weapon, it is not that simple for SK/JP to go nuke. It is a taboo subject domestically and internationally as well. It will create precedent and trust me, the last things the P5, and certainly our lovely friend Isreal, is to see NPT throwing into the trash bin.

Precisely, people here argueing all the time that Japan is a super advanced country it will create its own nuke within months. They are totally clueless how US, Russia and China worked so long and hard to get to that stage. And here these clowns think without testing, without years of research it can be done within months to assemble the capabilities the big 3 possesses.

It's a political suicide if Israel decides to give nukes to SK or JP, not just the career but imagine how China and Russia would react. These two are already pissed off with the THAAD and if Israel wants to give nukes to these two, both super powers will act.

What they insinuate mostly is that some other countries (in this case, miraculously, Israel, not the US) give nuclear warheads and perhaps some deployment technology to Japan and South Korea, rather than these countries developing their own. Like the NATO warheads across Europe. The US would still hold the property rights, but give JP and SK some assurance.

The problem with this proposition is that China and Russia would immediately take it as a direct grave threat to their security. In the end, JP and SK would be less insecure because they would be reduced to potential sacrificial lambs.

Well, major power relationship rests on reciprocity. US might twist the arm of its minor allies into something totally against their national interests, but with China and Russia, they need to seek equality and reciprocity.

The day nuclear warheads (or technology of it) is provided to countries like JP and SK, an equivalent transfer of capability would be provided to the countries in the US south. And rest assured, at least three of them would be more than happy to ensure nuclear deterrence against the US.
