What's new

Song that made trending meme's in India and #1 trending becomes controversial because of the lyrics.

Most do, but I don't.

Sometimes I feel like I was born too far east, several hundred years late lol.

Music is still haram, and so is the blasphemous content.
With due respect to religions! I have few queries..
  1. Muslims in Indian subcontinent follow different culture then Arabs (like Sufi..) till they become rich with petro-dollar
  2. Muslims in Kerala follow local malayali culture
  3. If music is haram, why belle dance along with is famous in Arab countries?
  4. Why muslim countries like Turkey have rich music culture?
  5. Famous songs from Afghanistan, some even plagiarized in India

Just because a lot of Muslims do something, does not make it halal.

To find out if something is haram, look at what the Quran, Hadith and Islamic scholars say.

So, you are telling me music is haram. Can you tell me where in holy Quran, Hazrat Muhammed (saw) called it haram and prohibited singing? I stress holy Quran is perfect. So, don't quote me Hadits and surah written years after prophet (saw) on this particular matter and use it to convenience while you enjoy these kinds of qawwalis.

And I don't want to brag about nobleness. Because the titles, family lineage or even beauty of qabr doesn't matter to the almighty. That's why Kerala Muslims are humble, tolerant, may be because we've been practicing before anyone in South Asia.

You cannot reject the hadith. The Quran explictly states to follow the Sunnah. Rejecting it takes someone out of the fold of Islam. Anyway, Surah Luqman also forbids music:

And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.

Quran 31:6, Sahih International

The majority of the scholars have agreed that this means instruments in general, as well as men listening to non mahram women sing. Some have excused percussion instruments, but that is as lenient as someone can be.

We need to stop teaching each others things. We are doing a zero sum action. The point is, if we start banning things, then there will be a lot of things that should be banned. I'm not up for some selective banning. So, if a particular section of people thinks it's haram and another section thinks it's not, then I think both are right. We have more serious things to do rather than fighting over a song. I'm off this thread.

Right you are. A lot of things need to be banned. We will start off small, but eventually we can purge our societies of all haram.

Not every group is right. Most are wrong, as the hadith about 72 sects says (Google it if you are unfamiliar).

Blasphemy is not a little matter.

Whatever floats your boat. I honestly don't consider music as haram. If it was haram then I shall bear god's will.
