Guys ihave few questions regarding afghans.
I just wanted to know that of the two ethnic groups that live there which one is downright conservative and backward.

And is it pushtoon afghans or daris who are anti-women's rights.

Now basically my most important question is why why afghans are so much against women's education???? Why ?

Incase the thread increases in length i will ask more questions :p

In my opinion both are backward as the female literacy is almost negligent in Afghanistan.

The reason for this is because of the strict social norms Afghanistan has adopted being nestled in between mountains. Little worlds contact meant culture remained backwards and tribal. Right now Afghanistan is stuck in 16th century because of this social structure trap. Any women who is not wearing a burqa is automatically identified as a prostitute. Education & globalization is the only liberating factor for Afghani people.

No need to ask questions, google Afghanistan's modern history and you'll find the truth yourself. Members here would just tell you what they think, which may not be totally factually based. It's also quicker.

I had thought such kind of answers might not be easily found in google. But i still want to hear from ppl.

I dont even know if i google what search criteria should i enter.

Afghanistan in the 60s had a quite a tolerant and vibrant society, much more tolerant and vibrant comparing to Pakistan of the same era, check out some articles of Nadeem Paracha ( Dawn news)

3 decades of war does destroy the fabric of a society where dark forces try to rule by force, just imagine Pakistan of the 90s quite tolerant, just 10 years of has turned your society upside down so imagine what Afghans have to go through in over 30 years of conflict.

Iraq or Syria much more tolerant societies have literally turned into hub of religious zealous where women rights or for that matter human rights is unheard of these days.

In summary : No country is inherently backward or intolerant, its a product of circumstances.

To be fair, Pakistan has a big hand in pushing Afghanistan into dark ages with the help of Saudis and US: Operation Cyclone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Huh? Wasn't Iran involved in Afghanistan? Seems you've cluelessly forgotten Iran's support for the band of warlords, drug traffickers and child rapists, known as the Northern Alliance who spent their time plundering the country after the Soviets had left. Of course, the easy way out of carrying this knowledge is to point fingers at the USA, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Iran was simply an innocent baby (albeit one with an ugly, bushy beard sprouting from its chin and the habit of screaming "Death to America!" and "Curse the Jews!") with no involvement in this mess.

1. Afghans are NOT against women education. The situation in Pakistan is the same.

2. There are harazarz, Tajik, Uzebks etc etc and Pashtuns in Afghanistan the Persian speaking Afghans have higher trend of women education. They aare also well off

3. The Pashtun Afghans were poor in Afghanistan and they are poor as refugees in Pakistan too most of them while a good number of them are in trade/transport business here and are well off

4. The Persian speaking Afghans in Peshawar mostly have educated wives more educated than their husband and they are more enrolled in English language courses here and have schools

There are not just two ethnic groups there, beside Pashtuns and Tajiks, there are also Hazaras, Uzbeks, Turkmens, Balochs, Nuristanis and some other small communities. Rural population of all these ethnic communities have very low literacy rate while the urban centers have relatively better literacy rate including female literacy rate.

By the way, dont you think you are too much fixated on Pashtuns? your questions are too much superficial and childish......hard to believe that your location is Pakistan, we Pashtuns dont live on Mars, we live in same country and we can be found in every part of country.....we are not that much of a mystery
Its u who is childish ,read my thread title ,it was abt afghans and all ethnic groups too. And yes iwnat to know y afghan pushtoons ,daris and all are not interested in education. This is the most mentioned point here abt afghans-- their backwardness hece iopened the thread.

And yes icud be fixated wid anyone, any group, how the hell on earth is that supposed to be ur issue??

What will u do now ? Duh!!! Dont show me ur stupid agression and be polite when talking 2 me or just dont quote me.

And YOU btw arent a pakistani ,zabardasti afgani pakistani ban kay bethnay say pakistani nahi ban jao gay.

My thread was never pushtoon specific but some ppl are such....sickos

Trust me i have seen ppl mentioning that zillion gajillion times hence i asked this. Every second person here writes they dont allow their women education in afghanistan and are backward. Also afghan talibans name was so mentioned in this regard that they block womens education hence my curiosity why they do that.

3. The Pashtun Afghans were poor in Afghanistan and they are poor as refugees in Pakistan too most of them while a good number of them are in trade/transport business here and are well off

Well the transport business is a mafia syndicate.
4. The Persian speaking Afghans in Peshawar mostly have educated wives more educated than their husband and they are more enrolled in English language courses here and have schools

So dari speaking group is most progressive of all. Btw iwasnt speaking abt afghans living in pak but the ones living in afghanistan.

Btw yes i have met dari speaking afghans, dont know whether they were uzbeks or tajiks, never asked ,but ididnt know they are called farsawani.
