Desperate for what? These are just ceremonial programs. Creating a goodwill, nothing other than that. Besides, Modi did get a similar welcome on a bilateral visit, doesn't mean China is desperate.Seems really desperate to get to Xi, I thought Indian gov didn’t need to do any ceremony as it is already a major power unlike Pakistan

Apples and Oranges. India is not Pakistan. There is quite a lot of difference between them when comparing the two. Keep that in mind.So when Pakistan does similar ceremonies, you and your media say it is desperate & seeking aid etc without any basis whatsoever. You protest and cry about CPEC and then claim it is ‘begging’. Modi prostituting children with Xi masks to endear yourself is desperate.
Relation with India is important. We should learn from the mistakes of other countries that underestimated and disrespected competitors.

Mr. Modi gifted a hand-woven silk portrait to Mr. Xi. Mr. Xi’s face was intricately woven in gold on a red background with floral patterns on both sides of the portrait. The portrait was made by using pure mulberry silk and ‘zari’ or gold threads.
