A great leader at War time does not necessarily became a good leader at peace.. Winston Churchill lost the next election right after leading Britain from WW II

Make no mistake no sane Sri Lankan will ever take away the credit from him for defeating LTTE terrorism and separatism.. There is forever gratitude.. And granted him two terms as the president of the country.. But that ends there, People did not elect him for the ugly nepotism, Corruption, Thuggery and open impunity for criminals with his support we saw during his 2nd term.. Whats more he removed the constitutional guards for good governance and the restrictions of power abuse by the executive.. Also removed the two term limit for a incumbent which were clear traits of a dictatorship

The world forgets that Sri Lanka is Asia's oldest continuing democracy, And the people will always safeguard that no matter what
