Singapore delivers phase 1 of masterplan for new capital city for India's Andhra Pradesh

There are quite a few planned cities in cities. Unfortunately, the slums come up gradually, then giving way to permanent structures.

last week one of our client told us that he is not interested to invest in TN because even after paying money to political party , he not sure work will done ( he has to pay to both major party and local leader differently).

This is correct. Also the Kerala brand of Trade Unionism is spreading here too.

The problem is not division.

The problem is mentality of a state. UP is one of the most gifted and resource rich states of India. The problem comes because of the typical mentality of UPites living in UP. Sad to say this but they just don't want to progress and work. They're intelligent but won't use their intelligence positively. The political parties that rule them don't come from Mars. They are a part of the same people that live in that state and have come out of them.

I have been to cities like Kanpur, Aligarh and Gorakhpur where they are still decades behind cities like Baroda, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and even towns in my state.

They focus too much on politics rather than on better working and benefitting their state. Also, there is so much negative competition in their state that even those who are good and want to do good work don't get any opportunity to perform.



Honestly, the only good regional parties that actually I have seen do something for their people is my state party Sikkim Democratic Party, Odisha's BJD and CBN's party for Andhra. Rest are simply power hungry satraps sitting on piles of resources and trying to be kings.

My native village is in UP and I know it better than most people commenting here. Let me tell you what is dragging my state behind. People may disagree but thats my perception and analysis.
1. Casteism & Communalism: Its prevalent all over India but not like UP. A UPite will not be at ease unless he has found out your caste. I see a camaraderie between the people of other states like, gujarati, marathi, tamil, bengali and even Bihari but UPites dont connect with each other because of the state but they connect more with their castes. It unnerves them if you dont tell them your caste revealing surname. This still gets reflected in their voting pattern. Other than castes what binds people of UP is their religion and as a result it disunites them with people of other religions.
2. Education: UP students lose out on english. You can see the software industry is mostly dominated by south indians. Also southern states took the lead in building engg colleges while in UP people kept doing BA, MA. So all you see outside UP is the manual labour force of UP.
3. Politics: Being the home state of so many PMs and big politicians, UP leaders like all the former PMs were focussed on entire nation than the state. CMs were always hand picked and appointed by High Command of the parties. The only grass root leaders are Mulayam Singh and Mayawati who ruled the state because of reasons no. 1 and 2 above. Neither BJP nor Congress has any inspiring leader in UP.

I am not mentioning corruption as its not specific to UP but a national phenomenon. Eastern UP is completely ignored in development but no one notices because the statistics of their backwardness get hidden when it merges with that of western UP. Perhaps east UP is worse than Bihar or other most backward states of India. Hence its imperative to carve out eastern UP to make a new state. And since it will have a lesser number of parliamentary seats, the leaders will focus on the state rather than having national aspirations.

7235 sq kms is a massive area. I just hope 1/3rd of it should be converted in to forest and the inhabitable area too has lots of trees. My best wishes for the new capital city.

CBN needs to use his territory for solar power generation as well. Andhra is so hot that it could easily be power-surplus on its own in a matter of a few years. I once went to Vijaywada in summer. For a pahadi like me, it was like furnace.

We'll have to ask our CM to get Switzerland to make a smart city plan in Sikkim. That's the closest country to our terrain with super infrastructure.



He is a respected man even among his opponents from the little politics of that state that I understand. A down-to-earth attitude with a serious business-minded mentality is what helped him develop Andhra Pradesh (ruined by YSR and his son).

Giving him the charge of the state again and his and PM Modi's mental alignment on the same plane means that Andhra's #AchheDin are in. The state has already been chosen to be the first pilot project testbed for 24x7 power supply. If the pet project is successful, it will pull dozens of industries out of the high tech Tamil Nadu, which dominates India's automotive, technical and industrial manufacturing and textile sector.

TN politicians should focus on development rather than self-glorification and needless extravaganza.

& yes AP is truly lucky to have him as the CM .. He & the PM are on the same wavelength regarding many issues- LAB, investment,development, use of technology & e-governance & how to make your babus work

He now has a huge task ahead of him to develop AP seeing how the state has been ruined due to the policies of COngress/YSR & the way it was bifurcated by both parties..

But Honestly speaking many people hate him because of his caste & the fact that he is an Andhraite.. Also rural people feel he could have done more for them when he was the CM..
Even the local BJP units in both states hate him(They blame him for the fact that they aren't strong in AP & TG), you should see the way the TG-BJP cadre speak of him.

& regarding TN, the governance in the state is in limbo as the strong-man(woman) who ran the state is now in jail. If you recall my Sri City thread, you will see how investment is slowly moving away from TN.[/URL]

It was the capital of Sathavahanas from 2nd century BCE to 3rd century CE. land pooling process for capital development has almost been completed in a record time and its my native native place....

URDU names are out of fashion and it is almost dead language in the south, and for english would you like to name it as washington or london or paris? everyone would laugh at it, and the name comes from a nearby famous historical city by the same name which is 35 kms near by

the place where the city is bieng built neither has a english speaking elite nor urdu speaking muslims...moreover amaravathi is the capital city of sathavahanas who have there origins in A.P.. so why should it be named in either urdu/english ?

Because the split is required for governance purpose only. There is no particular regional, lingual, ethnic feelings, in fact, it will be very difficult to draw a line between east and west. Almost everyone feels there that state needs an administrative division for better governance and development but this comes only during political or intellectual discussion.
