The tax has been creeping up every few years it only forces people to smoke poorer quality tobacco mind you this hits the labour class.

You can only charge Gunnah Tax if you are providing social welfare e.g. free healthcare else it is gunnah on its own and Govt should impose it on themselves .

good decision. but the govt needs to provide some relief to the public now. a common man hasnt seen much positive impact of CPEC which our leaders are using as a tool for gaining publicity.

Findings ways to loot people? If Jet Li has guts he should impose S3X tax on Christians and Muslims as Abrahamic religions consider it as a sin.

Impose the tax once you fence the border or u have dismantled the mule tracks leading to smuggling from afghanistan.
Till we complete that we can start a space filler exercise by simply starting vigilance of big cigarette markets or whole sale points across cities.
If we do not curb smuggling routes and incidence the customers will pay the tax and the middle man will reap the benefit.
Health sector needs serious uplift schemes and this tax can help fund it. We needed hospitals and specialized centers in every speciality like day before yesterday

People get ill by secondary smoke too - others smoking and someone getting caught in the middle.

This is a great initiative, smoking is extremely harmful to society and to one's own health. It's literally suicide.
And to those who are against it and saying that it will effect the poor, the whole point of a sin tax is to make people stop smoking.

Sin Tax is a very bad name for tax. It indicates like the sin is now Halal after they have paid the due tax on it

The government may increase tax on tobacco products if need be but we don't need to name it after Sin

I believe the tax is called consumer tax or excise duty tax in the western countries.

There should be tax on pan aswell.
