Sikkim standoff: Strategic importance of Siliguri corridor and why India should be wary of China

Yet it was the Indian military that liberated you. So shut the F up.
So what exactly happened in 1971, you tell me.
Read what actually happened in 1971 in Bangladesh Defense Forum pinned site. Indians liberated or looted Bangladesh is the question, which you still continue to do. Recall your numerous body bags from your over ambitious venture in SriLanka, so called Peace keeping mission, got beaten by a small band of Tamils.
Had the Indian Armed Forces not withdrawn from Bangladesh post 1971, the entire Eastern region i.e, West Bengal, 7 Sisters till Agartala would burn, India would have disintegrated. Remember you had the same plan during mid 1975, however, restrained yourself, sheer out of fear. STOP DAY DREAMING MIGHTY SUPA PAWA.

I know Indians are smart people but they are acting silly since Modi came into power.

How can you make everyone your enemy? And I mean not just the neighboring countries but states and factions within India as well. Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are sick and tired of Indian Bullying and want their independence from the Indian influences on their governments through pressure tactics in place for a long time now. Then there are the seven sister states, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad, Punjab and several other states who don't want to be part of the Indian Union anymore because of the adverse policies in place. Heck there are restrictions on what you can and cannot eat. Yet all I hear from the Indians is that Aaall is Well!

A short while ago, China had shown their displeasure over Dalai Lama's visit to Arunachal Pradesh and warned India of its consequences. But Indians thought it was just talk much like they are thinking now that its just talk. I say wake up and smell the shit because Aaall is not Well for you! You need to get rid of this RSS mentality from the minds of your policy makers and start respecting opinions from all factions of the country as well your neighbors. Or else there will only be a minuscule India left.

.
If India tries to breach our land and air space it will be a declaration of war and there will be full-fledged support to China from Bangladesh since our military and people are naturally pro-China. Consequently, the balkanization of India will kick off.

If India violates BD territory in case of war with China, that means China already is fighting us, genius :rofl:

And as far as Balkanisation of India is concerned, since 1947, instead of breaking up, we gained Goa, Sikkim, Daman and Diu, etc.... Can't be said the same about your beloved Pakistan sadly.

.
You rightly called it 'illogical', because Jinnah never wanted to let go of Bengal, so he play the 'Punjab card'. Gandhi gave his tacit approval as he wanted the Bengalis to decide for themselves and also to counter Jinnah's plans. One person to have influenced the outcome apart from Muslim League and Mahasabha was Gopinath Bordoloi, the first chief minister of Assam. Well, everyone had their own reasons and methods of upsetting this what-could-have-been pact.

I still find it difficult to agree that Jinnah presented this proposal since they oppose what I read from my references.

In any case, even if I agree with you that the plan was to incorporate entire Bengal into Pakistan, what happens ultimately? Bangladesh is now independent nation-state. So, finally, who do we see to take the wrong decision?

Two points:
1. Jinnah never proposed the Bengal pact, he was ok with an unified Bengal as long as he was compensated with the whole state of Punjab. You see what the difference is, he cared little for Bengal or its inhabitants as long as he was given adequate area to create his UTOPIA!
2. It never was the plan of Bose and Suhrawardy to incorporate entire Bengal into Pakistan, but to create a separate seperate homeland for the Bengalis. Once that failed, it was back to 'mission partition'.

I don't think you got my point. You said that Jinnah was reluctant to lose Bengal. Hindu Mahasabha leaders realized it and initiated the Bengali Hindu Homeland Movement to partition Bengal. On the other hand, Suhrawardy and Bose were trying to oppose the partition by proposing an independent Bengal state.

Now, in reality, what happens? Bangladesh, though initially being part of Pakistan, becomes an independent nation-state, fulfilling the dream of Suhrawardy and Bose of an independent state for Bengalis. So, ultimately, who took the wrong stand at that time? - The supporters of the Bengali Hindu Homeland Movement. Otherwise, the United Bengal would have been an independent state and perhaps, even the Northeast would have been part of it.

In 21st century, simple economics along with sound military balance dictates foreign policy and not childhood fantasies. Talk like a armchair military general on an internet forum is cheap, diplomatic realism is not. Otherwise we would have seen your fantasy come true long time ago.
China will not hesitate to discipline India if needed.Chinese economy is too big too be harmed from any clash with India.Indian force in Sikkim are now in panic.I hope you got the massage from the recent showdown in Sikkim border.

No friend you are mistaken, Suhrawardy and Bose didn't try to oppose partition, infact they knew that partition was inevitable, they just wanted it to be on their terms, that is creation of a new country for the Bengalis.
Next, about the movement by Mahasabha, it was only to oppose the proposal of Muslim League who wanted the whole of Bengal to merge with Pakistan, very little to do with Bengal pact.

Jinnah was not reluctant to lose Bengal, he wanted it as a part of Pakistan. But in the event that Bengal pact was successful and a unified Bengali country was to be created, he would support it only if he got to keep whole of Punjab. He didn't directly oppose Bengal pact but his unreasonable demands made it sure that the pact never saw the light of day.

Lastly, the plan of Bose and Suhrawardy was not realised even after the creation of Bangladesh because Bengal has already been partitioned.

I couldn't have made myself any clearer!

Who told you that Indian forces in Sikkim are now in panic? Idune?

Perhaps it's you who are self consciously misinterpreting an obvious message. India won't let bully it's trusted ally in the region. The Chinese road has been stalled, that's all. Dont like it, just move on and stop cheerleading and make yourself look funny infront of the world.

The very fact that India stands eye to eye with China is making some Bangladeshi and Pakistani trolls bit insecure.

I'm surprised you guys are not supporting india here? Aren't you guys meant to come to the rescue and aid of india in case if war against China or anyone else? I thought you would be guaranteeing india the use of bangladeshi troops to protect "mother india"

No insecurity here. For the last 70 years, Pakistan has been standing eyeball to eyeball against india. In which case india is too weak, powerless and impotent to attack Pakistan. Even after mumbai 2008 & uri 2016. That too despite the fact that india is more than 7x bigger than us and has abundant access to the world's most advanced weapons systems whilst we are denied this privilege :azn:. This raging fact tells you where the insecurity and helplessness is REALLY at :azn:

I do hope that the Chinese got our 'massage' too. Not denying that Chinese economy is huge compared to us, but that is precisely the reason India is not backing off. In event of a skirmish, it is always the aggressor and the bigger economy that loses more. Compounding that will be the fact that the Chinese economy is export oriented which has already taken a hit due to global meltdown whereas the Indian economy is consumption based, so in case of a conflict we will be better placed. China can kiss her dreams of competing with United States a goodbye if she were to engage with India at this juncture for such a trivial issue.

Btw, i like your name Doyal Baba , he is revered in our household.

We will stay put where we are no more, no less...that's it.

I said trolls and not Pakistan or Bangladesh. India did right not attacking Pakistan after Mumbai or Uri. We are experiencing rapid economic growth for the last twenty years and we don't want to jeopardize it by involving in futile war unless it gives us sufficient strategic leverage. Please don't confuse it with weakness or insecurity.

No friend you are mistaken, Suhrawardy and Bose didn't try to oppose partition, infact they knew that partition was inevitable, they just wanted it to be on their terms, that is creation of a new country for the Bengalis.

I meant partition of Bengal, they indeed opposed the partition of Bengal which was proposed by Mahasabha.

He didn't directly oppose Bengal pact but his unreasonable demands made it sure that the pact never saw the light of day.

That's the main point. So let's agree that ML and Jinnah wanted to incorporate whole Bengal into Pakistan, then what would have happened next? I'm asking you to look beyond 1947. Bangladesh is now an independent state, so if whole Bengal would have joined Pakistan, the independent Bangladesh would have constituted the undivided Bengal, exactly what Suhrawardy and Bose envisioned.

The message that I'm trying to convey is that the partition of Bengal was the biggest mistake and the proponents of Bengali Hindu Homeland Movement are responsible for it.

Lastly, the plan of Bose and Suhrawardy was not realised even after the creation of Bangladesh because Bengal has already been partitioned.

That depends on interpretation. I believe, Bangladesh partially fulfilled the dream of Suhrawardy and Bose.

You forget August the 14th 1947, when a Muslim minority carved, ripped, dismembered and pulled open wide the legs of mother india to create Pakistan and the nation that eventually went in to become Bangladesh from conquered indian territory

And there is NOTHING indians CAN EVER do to get that conquered indian territory back again :chilli:

And now according to your indianonics, india has gainned a landmass for bigger than the area of Pakistan and bangladesh.. ..........lol.........lol.............
