NATO was specifically started to be a counter weight to former USSR, now the Russian Federation. Why would they join an organization that was specifically designed to contain them? Cooperation is one thing, being suicidal is another.

In order for Russia to join the West, you need to have the US to withdraw from it.

Maybe Russia could form a block with Germany and France, whereas the US has its own block with other five eyes countries.

there is no interest for this in europe. Our culture is similar to USA, not russia.
