He was quite clear about it in the interview. A must watch.
Where can we "watch" it?

According to scientist V K Saraswat of DRDO the missiles will work in tandem to ensure a hit probability of 99.8 percent. On 6 May 2012, Dr V K Saraswat confirmed that Phase-I is complete and can be deployed to protect two Indian cities at a short notice. He also added that Phase-I is comparable to PAC-3 system.[31][38]
All good, he just forgot the air time that it would take to reach 2750+ kms to hit Andamans. With so much of air time and crossing over entire india, will give more than enough time to determine where to give bath to Shaheen 3
Your ignorance perplexes me. Shaheen II can cover its entire distance in 10-12 mints. Shaheen III can cover it in 13-15 mints. Hitting missile with 99.8 percent reliability in such a short window of time is only possible if BMD is mated with a super computer which is consuming 100-150 MW.
What is the reaction time of your so called BMD system
The two-tiered BMD System consists of the PAD, which will intercept missiles at exo-atmospheric altitudes of 50–80 km (31–50 mi) and the AAD missile for interception at endo-atmospheric altitudes of up to 30 km (19 mi). The deployed system would consist of many launch vehicles, radars, Launch Control Centres (LCC) and the Mission Control Centre (MCC). All these are geographically distributed and connected by a secure communication network.
The MCC is the software intensive system of the ballistic missile defence system. It receives information from various sources such as radars and satellites which is then processed by ten computers which run simultaneously. The MCC is connected to all other elements of the defence through a WAN. MCC performs target classification, target assignment and kill assessment. It also acts as a decision support system for the commander. It can also decide the number of interceptors required for the target for an assured kill probability.[10] After performing all these functions, the MCC assigns the target to the LCC of a launch battery. The LCC starts computing the time to launch the interceptor based upon information received from a radar based on the speed, altitude and flight path of the target. LCC prepares the missile for launch in real time and carries out ground guidance computation.
After the interceptor is launched, it is provided target information from the radar through a datalink. When the interceptors close onto the target missile, it activates the radar seeker to search for the target missile and guides itself to intercept the target. Multiple PAD and AAD interceptors can be launched against a target for high kill probability.[10]
congrates Pakistaan. What a great news for you guys.
Problem being even Pakistaan will be nuked as soon as radar spots pakistani loss.
On a serious note: Rest in peace to all the fish & aquatic organism Around Andaman.
@Oscar
You and other guys were saying that Andman and Nikobar islands are not important when I said they will be having naval and other bases and this fact will act as deterence.
Now take look at OP.
@Donatello
They aren't important in a nuclear exchange.
Once Pakistan completely destroys mainland India and all its life-line, hence crumbling India into stone age (uh, literally!)..it doesn't need any strikes on any Islands for that matter.
Indian response will destroy Pak anyways..whether from Islands or Submarines or from land.
Bottom Line: There exists a clear M.A.D factor in South Asia and india has been contained
For a second you cannot forget that you got nukes, always everywhere you guys are talking about that. lol MAD!!! Dreaming is Good, now come to reality. In the war IAF and Navy will destroy most of your missiles and nukes. And rest of them will be taken cared by BMD. After that you face the thermonuclear heat.
And india also had flying planes 3000 years ago.
Sure, kid.
Now go take a hike..
your army acted like a penis-less khusra and backed down multiple times from full-fledged war after Pak became a nuclear power.
So M.A.D is clearly working...
lol we have a BMD with 99.8% reliability against non-MIRVed ballistic missles.
What about before Pakistan got nuke? We got nukes much before Pakistan, but we did not attack why? Where was the MAD than, we could have destroyed entire Pakistan, isn't it?
It is not about the the BM strike alone. If God-forbidden it ever came to that, while knowing that Pakistan is not going to see the tomorrow, simply everything will be thrown at the enemy, bet it BMs, cruise missiles, anything that could be tipped with nuclear munition will be thrown from every available platform. Who knows Pakistan has even smuggled a few TN devices into India which will serve as 3rd strike capability.Your ignorance perplexes me. Shaheen II can cover its entire distance in 10-12 mints. good.
what abt the large agricultural land and river losses that our ever increasing population depends on ?
Pakistan had nukes..deliverable nukes on F-16s..in 1980's...
India had them at similar times (although first test was conducted in 1974 but deliverable nukes weren't developed till 1980's)...
Attacking mainland West Pakistan would be death of Indian Army. They know it as well.
Small wars, skirmishes etc. are fine. But there can not be a major war of Indian and Pakistani Armies lasting months. Both will inflict heavy damages on each other beyond tolerable level...
