The original thread

Super Fight League 2015: India wins 6 out of 7 fights

my reply.

So this took place in February of this year (2015) , fair enough , lets check the fight card

These are not evenly paired, these were easy setups as the Indians side put in people with more fights against people mostly who were either in their first or second fight.

Indian Total Fight before Pakistan Side Total Fight before
3 2
9 0
7 1
4 0
6 3
6 0
5 0

Pakistani team made mistake here in how they agreed on the fight card, at the end of the day this a game and they should have worked out a better card than this.

Are you kidding, not paired well? The whole event was a total farce, with the Indian guys representing the best of Indian MMA and the Pakistani guys, four of which had never fought a professional fight in their lives! , and the others being inexperienced or on losing streaks. How else do you think this scoreline was going to be achieved?

Have a look at some of the match ups.

Alamgeer Khan not a single fight to his name.

Muhmmad Shahid 6 fights and on a 2 fight win streak.

Mohammed 'The Hawk' Shahid Fights Record Profile

Abdullah Haiderzai, another no fight to his name

v

Mohammed Rafiq, six fights when he met the Pakistani guy.

Shams Rehman, again not a single fight

Anup Kumar, 9 fights and on a three fight win streak.

Usman Butt, another one without a single fight to his credit

Bahbajeet Chowdury, five fights with four wins

They were all horrible mismatches.

The event was the equivalent of asking a local amateur football (soccer) side, that has never played a pro game going up against a premier side like Liverpool.....

Now for the SFL.

What is the SFL? It's a professional MMA league set up by some very rich Indian businessmen, to bring MMA to a large market. Think the IPL format, without people buying teams etc.

The SFL has allowed talented coaches and some fighters come from abroad to fight in India, which the local MMA Indian fighters have benefitted immensely from. The Pakistanis don't have a league and no access to such trainers or facilities. They will obviously be poor opponents. I'd actually encourage the Pakistanis to train in India to benefit from all this.

The SFL has rankings, most of the Indian fighters compete at the lower weights. From the middle weight's upwards, the rankings are dominated by foreign fighters.

Now what happens when all things are equal? The best benchmark is the West or in this case I'll use the UK, my country. Afterall everyone has access to training facilities here, diet is the same, money isn't an issue and so forth. Pakistanis are by far the most dominate South Asian group in combat arts and has produced numerous world champions, yes on a world level, in kickboxing, boxing and so forth. Lots of guys compete on a pro basis as well.

besides, pakistanis should accept that eating non vegetarian food doesn't make you a winner.

. . .
Look at it this way. Those guys got a chance at MMA and made some money :)

.
On side note Vijender Singh is turning pro.

I like him and he fights well. It's interesting to see how he turns out in the pro game.

If Vijender turns Pro then I would Love to see him fight Amir Khan. That would be truly India vs Pakistan. Not like this street fighting team that Pakistan took for the tournament.

Two completely different weights and heights, with Vij being bigger. Even with that taken into account, no offence to Vijender, he isn't a match. It wouldn't be fair and end up the way the above debacle did.
He is just turning pro and needs many fights. He does have age against him though. 30 is very late to turn pro.

It's experience and training that counts. Which was missing from these guys.
