ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali on Friday said some international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Pakistan are being backed by the United States, Israel and India.

Addressing reporters in Islamabad, the interior minister’s claims come just a day after authorities sealed the Islamabad offices of the international aid group Save the Children and ordered it to leave the country saying the charity was “working against the country”.

The government did not make any formal announcement but an official from the interior ministry said that the agency was involved in the “anti-Pakistan activities”.

“Their activities were being monitored since a long time. They were doing something which was against Pakistan’s interest,” said the official without giving his name because he was not authorised to speak to the media.

Nisar said that there are several NGOs operating in Pakistan without any specific agenda. He alleged that most of them were taking part in “anti-Pakistan” activities.

“We welcome NGOs in Pakistan, but they need to understand our laws and constitution,” he said, adding that the government won’t let any NGO work “under the table”.

Nisar said that the ministry was receiving several intelligence reports about illegal NGOs, but no action was being taken against them.

“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a committee will be formed by Tariq Fatemi to look into this matter,” he said.

Regarding EU’s concerns over prosecutions in Pakistan, Nisar asked the EU to respect Pakistan’s constitution and said that Pakistan is “up to its neck”.

“We are up to our neck–terrorists set a war on us. We respect your laws and constitution, you should do the same, he said.

“Death sentence will continue in Pakistan. We are in state of war. It is a key part of our National Action Plan,” he added.

What is this rubbish? Of course all foreign NGO's are "backed" by their respective countries and sometimes their governments. Has our Interior Minister completely lost his mind because of hot summers in June? :D

It's his right to legally ban those NGOs if he think they are dangerous for your nation. If he is right he will win the case in court. Now I don't know how judiciary really functions in Pakistan Vis a Vis gov't bodies politicians and and forces.

Dude we are facing the same problem -_- .
Why would we do it with you? European nations does this. We don't have so much money to waste. We are already strained with our infrastructure projects, much payment is due.
Modi is removing them. (Again a answer to why Modi is good for India)

Why would Israel fund against you. Too much paranoia .

. . .
I'm actually won't be surprised if they do. NGOs are the best route for covert funding. I'm quite sure ISI and CIA are involved in covert funding operations of Indian NGOs and missionaries - partly why we've routed them up.

That's a very good step.
If secret services are reporting against any NGO,then serious action must be taken against it.
I will have no sympathy for a foreign NGO against which the intelligence agencies of my country are concerned.
Close them or seal them or whatever.
And the reports of Israel and India doing dirty bussiness under NGOs is not new. They've always been involved in moral terrorism,no surprises if they get caught in other anti Pakistan schemes.

Why not ban all foreign NGO's altogether if they are such anti-Pakistan? LOL :D

1. NGOs active in Balochistan bordering Iran hence Israel's interest.

2. Diplomatic support of Pakistan to Arab countries on Palestine issue hence Israel.

3. Pakistan, only nuclear Muslim nation hence...

First they allow foreign NGO's to "help" our own people because government apparatus is far too corrupt and ineffective in solving people's problems. And when some of those foreign NGO's go haywire in the process, they start blaming enemy states for the paranoia. LOL :D

If all foreign NGOs turn against Pakistan one day suppose,we should shut and expell them all.
Right now action should be taken against the ones being pointed out.

Man, I love this guy. Very bold and outspoken. No nonsense mentality. The truth has to be said and something needs to be done about it. I'm glad the first step was taken today in banning an NGO which was in reality a spy agency. Save the children... Don't even make me laugh.

Well from own experience, I can tell you there isn't much being done by these NGOs for poor. On ground almost nothing! Edhi foundation does lot more with lot less funds.
